I missed the first ten minutes. What is the idea behind the title?

I think it has something to do with something that Rosanna Arquette character says in Martin Scorsese's "After Hours".

Taken directly from the "After Hours" quotes sections here at imdb:

Marcy: My husband was a movie freak. Actually, he was particularly obsessed with one movie, "The Wizard of Oz." He talked about it constantly. I thought it was cute at first. On our wedding night, I was a virgin. When we made love - you've seen the movie, haven't you?
Paul Hackett: "The Wizard of Oz"? Yeah.
Marcy: Well, whenever he - you know, when he came...
Paul Hackett: Yeah.
Marcy: ...he would scream out, "Surrender Dorothy!" That's all! Just "Surrender Dorothy!"
Paul Hackett: Wow.
Marcy: Instead of saying something normal like, "Oh, God," or something normal like that. I mean, it was pretty creepy! And I told him I thought so, but he just, he just couldn't stop, he just, he just couldn't stop, he just... couldn't stop.

Dont't know how this passage comes off if you are unfamiliar with the movie, but my guess is that it really needs to be seen to get how creepily hilarious this was in the context of flick.

One of my all-time favorites.

the idea behind the title had nothing to do with that ridiculous context of dialogue about some guy coming... It was titled after the scene in the wizard of oz where the witch skywrites "surrender dorothy". In the movie the daughter "sara" loved the movie the wizard of oz, and she and her mum used it as their special greeting, example, when the mum rings the daughter, the daughter answers with "surrender dorothy" and vice versa. It was like their special bond thing...
