INSULT!

Haha, I was really bored last night so I turned my TV to Sony Max and saw Shilpa Shetty on - so thought, yeh, let's watch it.

And it was SUCH an insult. I didn't quite get what the point of the movie was? The man managed to gain complete right's over the woman - it was insulting. I know it's just a crappy comedy B-wood movie, but still, it was absolutely pathetic. And how her mother became absolutely subordinate to her husband once he hit her? What was the point of that? She was such a strong and intelligent character - and they made it out as if it IS A GOOD THING to hit the wife.

It was a really pathetic movie.
I know plenty of Indian movies are realistic...but it was slightly ridiculous that Shilpa's life got hoarded ever single moment so that the father could 'protect' the unborn child. If that actually happened, the woman would feel like crap and NOT get with the guy in the end...

You are right the movie is an insult especially in the Western World.

But the moother did not turn subsurvient because she was slapped, I believe she turned subsurvient because she would lose her bread-winning husband, and she didn't work. I don't know what divorce is like in India, but if she were married in America she would get half or everything and the house as well if married for that leangth of time @20 yrs or more.

I thought it was stupid of Salman to compare him living apart from his mom as a new-born baby being separated from its mom. But then again from a western point of view, the wives leaving their homes in marriage and the husbands continuing to stay at their homes with moms and in their same rooms is rather pathetic from a Western point of view.

To believe that you will naturally get along with your inlaws even if the wife and husbands' horoscopes match is preposterous!! Not only that, if puts stress on the newlywed couple to have the inlaws breathing down their necks. It may result in free childcare but what a price to pay, if you are incompatiable.

^^Totally agreed!

This movie is cr@p. They focus on only the male side. In so many instances I found Shilpa's argument to be correct but this movie just puts down her points as if it's a crime to even think like that.

And the worst worst part is where Salman says in an argument is that "Because you are a woman!"

They were trying to glorify over-controlling, dominating and abusive male i.e. Salman as the ideal husband.
