International Standard? Wake up... whoever..

SANJAY GUPTA's film reached an international standard? Whoever thinks this should wake up. If it ever reaches international standard, the international people is going to see it as pure plagerism - which is happening now in his new movie Zinda. People are compiling hate letters for him now and Korean producers armed to sue but with patience. You may love him, but dont you ever say that outside of India. Bollywood makes some great movies, however Sanjay Gupta is pulling the standard of Bollywood down instead of raising it.

i have not seen what india was before i was born. but i heard that centuries ago the arts were original and creative. somewhere between then and now, plenty of indians took avtars, as r.d. burman, ramesh sippy, annu malik, sanjay gupta, and thousands of others. worse still, billions others transformed themselves into nincompoops who did nothing more than catalyze the drain of creativity - letting this slip into no-one-ness being believed as International Standard. No wonder we call India as 'Land Of Beliefs'.

A resentful indian.

You're the first person who actually get what I wanted to say. These indians think movies like this should be internationally recognised, without knowing how much it steals from the international cinema.

What I hate about Indian Filma makers who copy is the fact that they don't say so...They just say they 'might' have been inspired by hollywood flicks.

This isn't the case in Hollywood...Take 'The Departed' for instance...it wasa huge hit...it was so damn good it was nominated at the Oscars...but under the 'Adapted Screenplay' Section...atleast they're cool with leeting people know its not teir original work.

Indian film-makers have copied movies for quite a long time now, and they will definitely continue to do so unless they are accounted for and sued heavily for plagiarism.

Heres a few 'Noted' filmmakers from Bollywood who have copied movies scene to scene and got away with it are

Abbas-Mustan( Baazigar, Humraaz etc...), Vikram Bhatt (Theres so many...Deewane Hue Pagal -Theres Something About Mary, Speed - copied from Cellular).
Theres so many other movies by others:

Meet Joe Black - Shukriya
Just Like Heaven - I See You
Reservoir Dogs - Kaante
U Turn - Musafir
Oldboy - Zinda
Hitch - Partner
John Q - Tathaastu
The Others - Hum Kaun Hai
Suicide Kings - Plan
Desperate Measure - Jung

the list goes on...

But of course...theres a few good ones in the industry too...

RamGopal Verma publicly stated that 'Sarkar' was his homage to Coppola's 'Godfather'.
Vishal Bharadwaj has openly said that his works 'Maqbool' and the cult 'Omkara' are his adaptations of 'Macbeth' and 'Othello' repectively.

I hope this trend of acknowledging the original work widens...

Don't hold your breath... us indians will only acknowledge such sources if there is something that was added by us.

If we take this film, and remove everything that was taken from the "inspiration", all we are left with is the songs. And in this case the songs are utterly pointless and contribute nothing to the plot. Even the tag line used for publicity has been lifted from U-turn. Nobody is going to acknowledge such obvious lack of originality :)
