The only time Samus has evr spoken was in Metroid Fusion on the GBA, only it wasnt in spoken words, only written text. Interesting note, no ther characters in the MEtroid series have ever spoken, except for in the E3 preview of Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, in which the character Rundus, speaks a few lines before disappearing
shareCorrection, murpheos! Samus spoke in Super Metroid, but in the same fashion of written text. Plus, before that, there was an actual VO that said, "The last Metroid is in captivity. The galaxy is at peace..." in the same game. But your right that in the sense that no game in the Metroid saga has ever had characters speak dialogue with VOs.

Well, in Metroid Prime 3 the Galactic Federation troopers talk to you, and some general guy does as well. Kinda reminscent of Half Life, not really Metroid material if you ask me. But I've not played the game... and I've always wanted to interact with characters more fully in Metroid, so I guess this is my chance :D

Don't really think so, as it's in another language and is subtitled for us - so it's about as useful as the 2D games talking, hehe.
But in MP3 the GFed troopers actually talk to you in plain English and tell you what mission objective needs to be done.
