Male mosquitoes can't drink blood

I guess they never thought to actually study mosquitoes. If they did they'd have discovered that mosquitoes are nectar feeders and only the females suck blood, and then only for their eggs to feed on while developing. Male mosquitoes don't even have the proboscis necessary for blood-sucking. Well, so much for the "science" in science-fiction.

The DNA that infected the convict guy must have come from female mosquitoes ;-)

reply

Doesn't matter. He was a male. Besides, if he had female characteristics, how was he going reproduce with the female?

reply

Ahhhaaahahhhhaaaahhhaaaa!
You're arguing genetic specific points about a movie which has a central character turning into a Human/Mosquito hybrid.
That is just class. Please continue, it's fascinating :)

Mansquito doesn't have to prooove himself to you...

reply

That my new myspace quote. Very funny.

reply

Oh my God. That's one of the funniest things I've heard in a while.

and humans don't turn into giant insects.... well that was until MANSQUITO CAME TO TOWN!!!!

reply

The point I was attempting to make was not about Mansquito or even mosquitos in general. It's about the way movies classifiy themselves as "Sci-Fi" and don't take the time to actually study the scientific principles pertaining to the theme of the movie. "Metropolis" and "Nosferatu" had more science in them than most current sci-fi movies do. I read that "Dante's Peak" was well received for it's accurate attention to the details of a volcanic erutption. I believe modern audiences are sophisticated enough to comprehend the principles behind the concepts in most sci-fi movies and would prefer, even demand that they keep the "science" in sci-fi.

reply

The movie was still awesome though no doubt about that. Even though Dante's Peak had some accuracy to it, it still is not as fun to watch as Mansquito is. And that is why I gave a 10 to Mansquito.

reply

Actually when mosquito and human DNA is combined the combination chooses to use certain elemtns from each species, hence the Mansquito will suck blood regardless of sex, its the way genetics work.
Trust me, I run a hidden underground laboratory and fuse animal species all the time.

Agreed

And human beings can't transform into giant insects. Dude, it's a B-movie, let it be.

reply

Yes humans can transform into bugs. Haven't you see the movie The Fly with Jeff Goldblum?

reply

So, being a class -z movie justifies everything? besides, mosquitos don't feed on blood. Female suck blood to feed the eggs only. The low budget justifies poor effects and unknown actors, buy ignorance has nothing to do with money in this case.

reply

hahaha so what? hahaha if they make up stuff about cows flying, or people dodging bullets, or a snake the size of an airplane (they made a movie on that too lol), then who cares as along as it is awesome! This movie was awesome. You just need to not worry about what reality is. Because the reality of the movie is not the same as our, like the Matrix hahahaha.

In conclusion: Sci-Fi pictures original productions scored a big hit with this film and it earn a 10 from me. The movie was perfect.

The budget caused them to not be able to shoot the scene in which the female sceientist explains that the male Mansquito has adapted to suck blood so HE can feed the eggs when she's ready to breed. He was storing it in that huge hump of his. That wasn't just where they hid the creature actor's head so they could have the animanatronic head out front. It was a blood-storage hump for egg feeding.

That dialogue scene would have cost tens of thousands to shoot though, so they left it unsaid and let audiences figure it out for themselves.
