Racist Movie please read

I think movies like Littleman and all Wayans Brother movies are racist and horrible. I am glad a person I know rented this and I didnt have to give this movie any money. What bothers me about some black comedians is that alot of them base their jokes off of white peoples expense. I dont know why black comedy can use the sterotype that all white people are high class snobs or yuppies who care about one thing and thats money while keeping the African Americans down. I am not a racist I would be happy to work for an African American and have no problem with it. I think its funny how if a white comedian starts using black sterotypes he would probably never work again while alot of jokes from black comedians are at the expense of white cops or white people.

reply

First off, the Wayans brothers are NOT racist. They have a little thing called a sense of humour. Which a lot of people in the world really need to get.

reply

A sense of humour? Have you seen this film?

reply

Like you said, it is a film, not a documentary - why be so serious about it?

FYI, I did watch it. It was hilarious thanks.

This movie is not racist because of it's portrayal of white people. African Americans can't be racist, because racism is derived from a system of power. In the US, the system of power favors White/Christians. This does not mean that African Americans can't be prejudiced, or bigotted, or portray demeaning stereotypes, it just means that no matter how much mean or hateful things African Americans do to white people, with the current (and probably indefinite) system, it will not tilt the balance of power.

However, this movie is stupid. I watched it, hoping it would be good-bad; I would be able to laugh at how stupid it was... I was dead wrong. I couldn't even enjoy disliking the movie it was so terrible. The stereotypes portrayed in the movie make this piece of crap movie a modern day Minstrel Show, and I couldn't help but puke up in the back of my throat a little. It's not just white people shown to be stereo-typed (with only 4 or 5 white people in the movie, it's more archetypes for comedic purposes than it is stereotypes for discrimination), but the Wayans brothers put themselves in a metaphorical black-face and strike-out on every single "joke."

Being white I'm not bothered by jokes at my expense, because there's no reason to be offended. I benefit daily from a system that favors me simply because the color of my skin, so I don't think it's too much of a burden to have jokes made at "my" expense. Caucasians, Anglos, and/or people of European ancestry (whichever you term you prefer) have this Eurocentric belief that White Makes Right; and historically we've bullied "minorities" when we have no right to do so.

Bottom line: Don't hate this movie because it makes fun of white people, hate it because it's one of the worst pieces of trash movies ever released.

1.a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others.
2.a policy, system of government, etc., based upon or fostering such a doctrine; discrimination.
3.hatred or intolerance of another race or other races.

I am a passive person myself but, a lot of black people are racist towards white people. Amazing how someone can put a show off on being a intellectual but, they don't even know the meaning of the word which they are referring too.

Anyways, from what I have read many of you have mixed feelings about the whole thing. This User Review isn't even relevant.

reply

I agree. When someone makes a statement that "black people can't be racist," I find it frustrating because it is usually said by someone who thinks of themselves as intellectual and sympathetic to the downtrodden and underprivileged of society. There have been plenty of examples of racism by African Americans, so that statement is patently false. The 1992 L.A. riots are the most glaring example when there was a spontaneous uprising to destroy an entire ethnic community (Koreatown). Widespread violent attacks against a group that was outnumbered perhaps 5 to 1? That sure looked racist to me. Or what about Judge Roy Pearson in Washington, D.C.? He's the one suing a small-time dry cleaners for $65 million because they misplaced a pair of pants. They found the pants within a week and offered three settlements, the last one of which was about $12,000. Yes, Roy Pearson is African American and the dry cleaner is owned by a Korean immigrant family. Roy Pearson is also an administrative affairs judge for the D.C. Superior Court, so he has no excuse that he is ignorant of the law.

This is not meant to say that there weren't and aren't individuals of every other race and ethnic group who also have racist beliefs and act in a racist manner. Nor is this post intended to ignore slavery, Jim Crow laws and other injustices throughout history. But whenever someone disputes the statement that "black people can't be racist," people often trot out a glib response like "Looks like the KKK just arrived" or some other ad hominem attack. Personal insults aren't a mature response in a supposedly intellectual debate.

This post isn't meant to say that this movie is or isn't racist. I can't honestly say either way since I haven't seen it. But I felt that I had to respond to the "black people can't be racist" statement and the KKK response.

[deleted]

Of course not. Blacks can't be racist, only whites. Didn't you know.

What a load of bull$hit.

All these type of movies, like Beauty Shop are racist, pulling a moonie in the face of political correctness in the fact that Blacks can do what they want and nothing is considered racist, yet if a white person made a film like this it would never get released.

But Black people always say "we've suffered enough, we feel our fathers who were slaves". Do you? Do you feel their pain? Is it eased by the vibrating lumbar support on your Lexus and the gold chains weighing you down? When you jack another (black) man's ride, is it easing your pain further. When you pop a cap in his a$$ does that make your forefathers proud.

Don't make me f ucking laugh. I'm not racist. I'm REALIST. This movie was racist though, and so are a lot of the bull$hit poster on here.

HA! You've got to be kidding me, right? You go off and spew every negative stereotype about black people and then accuse them of being racist. Just your post has more racist comments than Beauty Shop and Little Man combined. Please provide some logical prove of how these two movies are "holding down" the white man from reaching his full potential.

I didnt only mean this movie all of Wayans brothers movies. Come on White Chicks? if that movie isnt racist then what it is how about the fact that one of the parents who is white cares only about winning the football game. What about Scary Movie 1 or 2 when his character says "I see white people". I have a sense of humor Bad Boys and Bad Boys 2 I thought they were both excellent funny movies. They seemed to step away from the jokes about race and it was funny. White Chicks was a hour and half joke about white girls and white people in general.

Like I said this movie has racism in it also. When the cops describe the skin color and there is other parts. I think African Americans are smarter than this this movie hits on every racial sterotype. I am not a cop but I hate jokes about Police and racism. Sure theres a handful of racists out there but most people are not like that. If they made this movie with clever humor but instead we have to see every sterotype known to man over and over again with the Wayans Brothers.

please learn the defintion of "racism" before you start spewing alot of ignorant propoganda that you picked up from heaven-knows-where. You might not make yourself look foolish in the future.

Racism has absolutley NOTHING to do with power. That is a Black COP-OUT, that blacks can't be racist. It's a political ploy designed to give the race an out for any wrongdoing. Think about what kind of lies you spread.

"I benefit daily from a system that favors me simply because the color of my skin, so I don't think it's too much of a burden to have jokes made at "my" expense.

my what an absolutley RACIST thing to say. speak for yourself. Who has "bullied minorities"? You better be more specific in your accusations there, buddy.

reply

How is what I say racist if I'm white? You clearly don't know what you're talking about. If you think that the U.S. doesn't favor white people and doesn't provide for an easier life for white people than it does African Americans, Latino Americans, Asian Americans, and let's not forget Native Americans then you need to wake up.

I don't need to cite specific examples because the benefits are not always visible, it's not a blatant "Oh, you're white, let me get that for you." But spend a little time in low-income areas, or working in low-income schools and really pay attention to the inequalities that are present. If you don't see them, you're an ignorant boob.

I recommend you do a little research on racism, and not just studies written by white people. You're so quick to call explanations "COP-OUTS," and dismiss an entire people's struggle. When have Europeans bullied minorities? Are you kidding me? I'm not even going to dignify that with a response.

reply

"How is what I say racist if I'm white?"

It makes no difference if you are white, black or purple. It's your IDEAS that I am addressing.

Racism is:

1) The belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others.

2) Discrimination or prejudice based on race.

It has absolutley NOTHING to do with some perceived "power". You are delusional if you think that a black person is not capable of the very HUMAN frailty of racism. You're listening too much to black radical propaganda to be rational on this subject, imho.

You need to really get out of this blanket, stereotyping mentality that you have.

"If you think that the U.S. doesn't favor white people and doesn't provide for an easier life for white people than it does African Americans, Latino Americans, Asian Americans, and let's not forget Native Americans then you need to wake up. "

That statement is just SO racist as to be almost funny.
I AM POOR, BUDDY! I dont' have a car, I take public transportation!
I could point out 100,000 examples of a black person doing better than me!
There are a few examples right here in my OFFICE ALONE!
So, don't preach to ME about how "whites are doing better than blacks"

YOu need to wake up!

I dont think they are racist at all. The comments such as i see white people are meant to be funny. I laughed. White chicks isnt making fun of white people as a whole. it is making fun of the rich ditzy extrememe upper class white girls that our society worships ( or hates) for no reason ( example paris hilton). It is not directed at all white people all over the world. I dont see little man as racist at all either. there was no racial arguments or anything like that in this movie

reply

LOL. Someone missed the point of White Chicks. They weren't taking the piss out of white girls but socialite 'prep' characters; they were 'insulting' a social group/sub culture, not a race! Preps or socialites or ditzes - whatever you want to call them - come in all races. It just so happens that these ones were white, which isn't surprising given that the majority of preps are white because it's a Western sub-group and most Westerners are white!

Srsly, get a sense of humour.

Slavery existed since the beginning of man. And was practiced by all races, religions and cultures.

it's not just Europe and America that were responsible but also African warlords and traders who sold their own people into slavery.

It is ok to respect the past and learn from mistakes, but it is now time to move on, 200 years ago it was the British, specifically British Christians, who was the first to outlaw slavery. Not Africans. Not Muslims. Not Americans. But the British. In fact, a "thank you" from a large part of Africa would be in order.

200 years! Get over it already, & stop using slavery as an excuse for lack of achievement & poor behaviour.

What is the legacy of slavery today?
Well, in europe it has led us to multiculturalism & other failed social engineering experiments of the naive liberal left.

Slavery is still happening in Africa though. Young boys can be bought for as little as £25 and forced to risk their lives untangling fisherman's nets in the murky waters of Lake Volta in Ghana. These boys are sold by their own families.

My family were also used as white slaves in the mines, work houses and factories, poor white working classes at the same time, where they were worked to death for little more than a bowlful of food a day and could only expect to live to 30 and i assure you they did not benefit in any way shape or form from the enslavement of Africans.

Express sorrow and regret for what happened, yes, but to consider ourselves responsible for something that our distant ancestors may have had some vague involvement in - absolutely not.

Are the Italians planning reparations for the misdeeds of the Roman Empire? Will the French apologise for invading UK in 1066? How about the Vikings, Germany invaded most of Europe. History is history.

reply

This is the only post in this ridiculous thread that's worth reading. Way to go, Earthling 12, you are the only person here with any brains at all. History is history, and that's where it belongs. If we keep bringing these issues up, then we can't progress as a society and we simply didn't learn anything from our past. Virtually every race in the planet has suffered from slavery and just plain racism, and the only way to deal with it is to rise above it and be successful, not to prove anything to society, but for yourself. I feel like a lot of the time, people use racism as an excuse to justify their own failures in life. Do you ever gain anything from blaming other races for your suffering? Does it make your life any better? I am Cuban, I have lived in many countries before, have been discriminated and put down countless times, but never have I gained anything from being the defensive racist, only from my hard work and ability to rise above it. There are countless examples throughout history of people growing up under incredible racism and economic hardship (much worse than what African Americans have endured here in US, mind you) that have gone on to be incredibly successful and influential(many examples from the Jewish community come to mind...) Hell, I will go as far as to say that all that racism and hardship was a motivator and a fuel for these people, as I know it certainly was for me. In a way, I thank every person that ever tried to put me down, because it pushed me to become a better person.
Folks, bottomline is: stop crying and feeling sorry for yourself for being discriminated against, it is part of life. Just get out there and be somebody!!! At that point, racism becomes not only irrelevant but virtually inexistent. I mean, I doubt Denzel Washington gets discriminated much these days. You get my point!

More ignorance about the TransAtlantic slave trade and African history I see. First of all different nations in Africa resisted the slave trade from the beginning so this stupid idea about the noble white British being the only ones to end slavery is bull. And the main reason they did it was because of economic reasons, not moral ones since the Industrial Revolution was making chattel slavery obsolete. So I don't think a large part of Africa will be thanking Britain any time soon since there's nothing to thank them for.

And if you think slavery is only happening in Africa today you're a moron. Slavery happens on every continent today on the black market and it also happens in the United States. And spare me the stories about your ancestors not being slaveowners. It's not about whether they were slave owners or not, but about the fact that chattel slavery conferred a higher social status on all people considered white whether they owned slaves or not.

Your entire post is meaningless. You've adopted the 'I never hurt a person of color in my entire life!' mentality.

Know this: You have no idea what it is to be black or any other culture that isn't white.

You think it's hard to be white? Have you ever known to the depths of yourself that a whole race thinks that you're nothing? That it's no big deal if you die? You've never had a huge white man look you in the eye, call you a prairie *beep* and think that he can do anything to you. When the day comes that you're not afraid of just living and just being the color you were born; call me. Because hell just froze over. Being white isn't hard at all.

So you all can read this. Try to make me feel guilty. Tell me I have no clue what I'm talking about. Why bring my personal sh*t into this? Because racism is personal. Defend being white...you're allowed to. But we can't stop how we feel. We can't ignore that white people have put us so far into the ground we can't even defend ourselves without being slapped back down.

What have you to complain about now? Tell me how I'm wrong. Go ahead...
