I think I'll retire in France. . .

As a casual observer of French films, I can't help but notice that all the old French guys in movies seem to have hot mistresses one-half to one-third their age like Marie Gillain in this movie. (It also seems like a goodly amount of middle-age guys in French movies have UNDERAGE mistresses, but I won't comment on that). Do beautiful French girls all have daddy issues? It hasn't been my experience when I'm in France that beautiful girls throw themselves at me, but maybe that's just because I need to be 20 years older. I'm just not gray and paunchy enough yet.

Really though, is this just a convention of French movies (like the French seemingly ALWAYS being on vacation in their movies) or is it the real culture? And do they ever interview French actresses like Marie Gillain and ask how they feel being romantically paired with someone their father (or grandfather's) age? I'm not being mocking or critical here(more power to these old French codgers), but I find this interesting. . .
