A contemporary version of The Sons of Katie Elder.
You'd hope Hollywood would come up with more new plot lines.

shareI figured this was the John Wayne one! Looked familiar lol
Come on, Franklin! It'll be a fun trip!
It does, but nobody wants to risk making them. Making a feature film (especially in Hollywood) takes a lot of investment - in terms of money, time and the reputations of those involved. They're running a business - which isn't a bad thing, it's just how it works.
So why would you invest all that into a new, radical idea that might crash and burn, cost your studio a bundle of cash and hurt your career (and others)? I'd be going for the tried-and-tested formula too.
You want original movies, look for independent filmmakers who don't have as much to lose.
Very true.
shareI have a avoided this movie for years. It has been on HBO this month and I wondered if it is a remake of Katie Elder - a favorite. Thank you for answering that question. But I am still curious if it does the original any justice. Please advise.
Thank you,
