A contemporary version of The Sons of Katie Elder.

You'd hope Hollywood would come up with more new plot lines.

I figured this was the John Wayne one! Looked familiar lol

Come on, Franklin! It'll be a fun trip!

It does, but nobody wants to risk making them. Making a feature film (especially in Hollywood) takes a lot of investment - in terms of money, time and the reputations of those involved. They're running a business - which isn't a bad thing, it's just how it works.

So why would you invest all that into a new, radical idea that might crash and burn, cost your studio a bundle of cash and hurt your career (and others)? I'd be going for the tried-and-tested formula too.

You want original movies, look for independent filmmakers who don't have as much to lose.

Very true.

I have a avoided this movie for years. It has been on HBO this month and I wondered if it is a remake of Katie Elder - a favorite. Thank you for answering that question. But I am still curious if it does the original any justice. Please advise.
Thank you,
