question at the end...

so..if everyone died? what happened to joy?? and why was the bagua back into its shape again after joy broke it?

reply

i think there was a part in the movie when the old man said that it can never be truly destroyed. when "destroyed" the bagua builds again by itself in some mysterious way. joy was still alive, but obviously, she left the bagua.

I thought that when the owner breaks it, they die as well? Maybe Joy died?

reply

How about this thought...Remember, you can destroy the bagua only after you've rejected good luck...Well, keeping the bagua was good luck and her not selling it back to the original owner ment that she inadvertantly accepted the good luck as opposed to getting rid of it...So she didn't fulfill the rejection of good luck part when she broke it

Gasp. I never thought of it that way. That's true...

I had thought that it must have not been considered rejecting good luck when she rejected the offer. So, that could be it.

reply

my friend told me that joy was taken by the ghosts of the people who died, in short she's dead.

yeAh, but who's the bride?
-- you know it will always just be ME!

reply

she didn't die. they said that if she breaks it, the bagua will steal the soul of the owner as well. but once she turned down the offer from the lawyer, she was turning down the good luck so then like the old man said, she was able to break the bagua and the curse on HER was broken.

As someone here said, when she kept the bagua even after not accepting the money she was still lucky. If she had returned the bagua for free..maybe she would have been spared. I do remember the old man saying that only if she denied good luck then the bagua would be destroyed, just destroying it the bagua would repair itself. Something like that/
Been there, done that!
