did they ever use there wish?? I have the dvd and its my favorite movie and i watch it alll the time but did they use there wish?

I happened to rent this dvd a day ago, my understanding was when they rescued Aqua they forefeited their wish since the lifeguard didn't fall in love with her, but at the same time her dad relented on her marriage when the girls said they loved her and would miss her when she returned to her underwater world, so I am confused as you are!

i think it was a good ending anyway because it showed that they were not selfish and didnt care much about the wish in the end!

Maybe they could have used the wish to get a pair of shell phones. This way, they could have talked to each other, even being on different continents, without paying phone bills.

And what's more: An ending like that would have been in accordance with the book.

If you watch it all the time then how are you confused??

I've seen this movie I know over 20 times. I love it dearly and am a big fan of it. But since Ray couldn't say that he loved Aqua the girls thought that they weren't going to get their wish. Although when they risked their lives to save Aqua from the storm that was dragging her away and they said they did it b/c they loved her they proved to Aqua's dad that Love did in fact exist. So "yes" they did receive a wish but they chose not to use it yet. They eluded to the possibility that they were going to save their wish and use it to see each other next summer after Haley had moved away. I was really wishing that they would make a part 2 and show the girls using their wish the next summer and getting into some trouble with Aqua again.

In fact, when they are swimming back to the pier....

Hailey: Race you to the pier.
Claire: No, wait. Lets just float a while. I want to enjoy this. Has this been the best summer, or what?
Hailey: Just wait to next summer, when you guys come to Australia to visit me.
Claire: I don't know if I could swing that with my allowance.
Hailey: Uh. Claire...We still have our wish.
Claire: Oh, my God. You know what Hailey?
Hailey: Uh?
Claire: It's good to have friends with fins.

What I don't get is why couldn't they just wish:

For Hailey's mom to get a grant that allowed them to stay in Florida??

Maybe that was just not an option.
The sea life in Australia is quite different then in Baybridge.
She worked to get this for ten years.
