While Mac's away - the kids will play

Much as I love Commander-in-Chief, I just think the White House Party when Rebecca and Horace have their friends over was just ridiculous.

Is it realistic that Horace could take Stacey into the Oval Office without anyone challenging them?

When Mac was in California, the door to the Oval Office and the outer offices would all have been locked and possibly guarded. There might also be CCTV cameras recording inside the office should anything happen to go missing or get broken.

Are we seriously to believe that Horace and Stacey could snuggle up to each other on the President's couch?

The scene with Rebecca in the Press Room was pretty funny and I can see that happening, but entry to the President's inner sanctum would be off limits when she's away - even to her children.

I also thought young Amy taking and hiding the Gettysburg Address from the Lincoln Bedroom was also ridiculous. Such a historical document would have been under lock and key in the display cabinet to prevent it from being stolen or damaged.

Thoughts, anyone?

I'm not really sure you're going to get any arguement on that episode it was by far the weakest in the series. But with all due fairness, I would say that with respect to the issue you brought up of Horace and Stacey in the Oval Office, due to the fact that we never got to see the 5 unaired episodes we never got to see the resolution to that. Apparently Stacey got pregnant from that incident and it led to a storyline where Mac took some sort of stance on the abortion issue which they stayed away from the entire show. So it is concieveable that Mac and Rod might confront Horace with CCTV footage and there would be a consequence of some sort.

Amy taking the Gettysburg address was dumb and just a rehash of her taking the diary. But overall I always felt that focusing on the kids and Mac's mom detracted from the show. To me they were always part of Mac's life. Mac was the main character and they were supporting cast and should've stayed that way.

Agreed on this episode as poorly conceived. The party at the Whitehouse for their friends was so far from a possibility it was insane. Same with the ordering of a pizza.
