Brilliant...

I just finished watching the first two episode and I must say this is one great show. It's nice that a Canadian television program finally leads the Americans in creativeness, acting and writing.

Well, there was Street Legal, which predated Boston Legal, The Practice, L.A. Law and every 2nd half of Law & Order. The last one which starred Jerry Orbach for a dozen years (a great Canadian actor who shall be missed).

Oh, and of course there was Traders which was the best behind the scenes business type drama show of all times (mostly because its the only show of its kind ever, though it was great).

And then there's Corner Gas, which is by far the funniest show on TV (poor Americans have to suffer through lame ass reality shows).

So I guess I can say that Re-Genesis continues the great tradition of cutting edge Canadian television. This series seems especially cool to me though. How evil and creepy is denying a newborn child freedom?

The characters are awesome! They aren't extreme and lame. Too often on American dramas woman are portrayed as massive b****es and/or soap box ideologues. Watching that wonderful actress banging pictures on the glass while the mother broke down was a real treat. Horrifying scenario and at the same time seemed completely real to me. The father/scientist character is a realistic character as well. Wonderfully acted by that particular actor who reminds me of a much less creepy James Spader.

The cloning sub-plot is slightly annoying. Granted, it was funny as hell and interesting, but it seems like this is going to be a reoccuring thing bordering on the super natural. But, that's just my pessimism kicking in. Started way back with the popular but ridiculous Canadian game show Jackpot. Though I was only 5 or so at the time, even I could tell how shameful a show that was. :)

Well, off to watch about 9 more hours of Re-Genesis. I must admit, nothing beats watching a 1 hour drama (50 minutes instead of 44! Canadian dollar may suck, but Canadian hour is great!) back-to-back-to-back. I tend to forget about shows like 24 when I have to watch it once a week at a specific time.

Haven't been this pleased since Buffy :)

Best Canadian show to date. Gotta disagree with you on Corner Gas though. Brent Butt is one of the most unlikeable, unfunny people I have had the misfortune of watching. Yet it is literally shoved down our throats by the network (Global I believe). Oooh! Can't wait to buy Season 1 on DVD! And don't even get me started on Trailer Park Boys...I'd rather watch rats eat my testicles than that turd.

Still, ReGenesis is really good. Colour me surprised.
