Virologists at NORBAC (Spoilers through Season 4)

I just finished watching Season 4 on Hulu. I hope that the availability (in the U.S.) of the last season will spark some more discussion around these parts. ReGenesis has sparked a lot more discussion than I would have anticipated (though not more than it deserves).

When I saw Enuka Okimba accept the virologist position at NORBAC, I thought she was crazy. Let's look at the history: Hira, Jill, and Rachel (and the best off of the bunch, Jill, was lucky enough to *only* contract a potentially fatal condition, go through a terrible, co-worker killing and maiming explosion, and end up nursing her well-deserved anxiety in some unknown corner of the world). After everything that has happened to the women of NORBAC virology, no one in their right mind should take the virology position. It's safer to be the drummer for Spinal Tap!

Well, Enuka didn't know all of that history now, did she? She knew about Rachel's death, but I kinda doubt she knew about Jill or Hira.

And I must admit, out of all the NorBAC virologists, I liked Enuka least (which has nothing to do with Karen LeBlanc). I can't even really say why. Perhaps because they spent less time introducing her character, and I wasn't all that impressed with the one episode where they looked at her family ties. Or maybe it had to do with the fact that it was getting a bit old that a) the virologists kept changing almost every season, and b) David kept compensating for his desire to be with Jill with humping every halfway attractive female entering the picture. :-)

Hi TJ,

I'd be really surprised if Enuka didn't know about Jill and Hira. I have to imagine that virology is a small enough field that most elite virologists from the US and Canada have met and conferences/ read each other's work and shared gossip about each other.

Enuka seemed nice enough, but it felt a bit strange that she had an episode devoted so largely to herself and her family when the other characters (excepting David) had to wait seasons for that sort of coverage.
