Series finale discussion....

Am I the only one who thought the finale was a MAJOR let down???

SPOILERS BELOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Like....the whole look into the future thing was just....stupid. And I felt so cheated w/ the unresolved ending.

reply

What exactly was stupid in the finale?

It's actually quite typical ending... for a sci-fi book (and some sci-fi tv shows and movies also have done this). I was surprised to see it in the end of bio-CSI-drama with conspiracy theories, yes, but I wasn't disappointed.

reply

I have to say I quite liked the end, it was nice to see the team together, i was hoping and praying that we'd get another season ( wishful thinking). I did notice that is all the flash back there wasnt any of Caroline? or did i just miss her?

Money is so wasted on the wealthy.

The OC ended after four series (the last being shorter than the others), so BANG goes your arguement.

Am sorry to see the end of Regen though. One of the best prodceedural shows out there.

reply

I suspect that the character of Caroline was excluded from re-appearances because the producers of the show were still cross with Maxim Roy. I understand she was fired at the end of Season 2 essentially over a salary disagreement. Maxim Roy was one of the best reasons for watching the show.

Correct me if I am wrong (but not about Maxim Roy being one of the best features of the show, because that is indisputable).

reply

I was very disappointed not to see Caroline in David's thoughts I thought it very poor, she a great part of the show.
I also feel I must've missed something concerning Bob's son, if he was bob's clone, then how come he was not sterile and could produce so many children. I must've missed something vital concerning this.

reply

Caroline was missing from that montage. And folks don't forget that the future was all in David's head.

reply

I was letdown by the finale as well, but to be fair the show has been going downhill as of late so im not really surprised. There really wasn't a whole lot else they could do at this point, so im not that sad to see the show end. It was good while it lasted, but it was the right time to end it in my opinion.

This episode reminded me of the season 4 finale of Babylon 5. With the whole future of society as well as the characters. I liked that more than this though. This was good, I like regenesis, very sad to have it over, but its no B5.

I felt so duped when they called out Lilith. I knew it was a pretty low chance Ellen Page would come back for a cameo, but I figured if she were to do it it'd be the series finale. After what they tried to pull on Mayko to make her have an excuse for not aging, I would think they could think of something for her as well.

I thought the episode was a pretty big let down. The last few episodes leading to the finale were pretty big. I was pretty disappointed that they didn't show how Carlos made it out of Africa. Flashback shows are fine for sitcoms, but on a show thats always had a pretty continuous storyline, I expected something to happen or for there to be some sort of closure.

reply

It really did feel a bit rushed. Kinda like they had all that stuff planned for Season 5 and 6. But then the company sold it off, so they had to just tell everything in one episode. That's what it felt like. But still, what a ride.

But did Carlos make it out of Moldova (not africa), don't forget it was Dr David Sandstrom's dreaming from when he was knocked out cold! But during the dream, Dr Sandstrom asked Carlos "how he got out of there" and then he turned to Wes and said to Wes: "I suppose you had something to do with it", which Wes then said "I pulled some strings"

As for Mayko, she had all sorts of problems with her prior to the "Court Case against Robert Crick Melnikov Jr"... she had liver problems, leg replacement, hair replacement... all this is done with regenerative medicine! Which is possible in the near future

reply

My big question is, was David seeing his life pass before his eyes in the montage? and Die? It was kind of unclear! And Did Carlo's really make it out of Moldova or not! They sort of left it to Our imaginations! All in all it was a really good show!

reply

I thought they did that last episode brilliantly... Don't forget it was Dr Sandstrom's dreaming but on a perspective to why he thinks Human Cloning shouldn't happen.

I LOVE this show and am very disappointed to see it end. I thought the finale was interesting, but felt it was out of character for Bob to have left his best friend and mentor in the snow, bleeding, & out cold, like he did. That was the reality of the show, not in David's dream.

I didn't like the writing for the last season, and I felt killing off Rachael was a huge mistake, and one that I don't understand, like killing off Caroline Morrison (played brilliantly by Maxim Roy).

I thought they dealt with the explosion really well, understated the impact initially until they had each character show how profoundly they were affected, but not in a cheap, overacting kind of screaming way after it first happened.

I think the show started going downhill with Bob's losing his eyesight story. I think that was good, but the whole waking up a retro organ and then a cloned baby went too far. I was glad to see Bob become a husband and father, but I really hated Nina by the end. For her to manipulate and deceive Bob as she did ... and then hit our hero, David with a shovel... I'm sorry but that didn't sit well with me. Again, I don't believe Bob, who is basically a very moral person, would leave with her after that, and leave David there like that. Not in line with the characters we know and love.

I loved the camera tricks they used, having a scene with 3 characters and then backing out of it/doing a rewind, and seeing where the other guy went. I loved the interaction and real love these characters have with and for each other. They really drew us into their lives and made us fall in love with them, despite their flaws.

The science. I even loved the science. It was completely real, (my dad has a PhD. in biology), but it wasn't overwhelming or boring. Every second of the show was gripping, and we couldn't wait to see each new episode.

So, back to the finale. My husband thinks they jumped the shark on it. I feel that the show always had a point to it, to make us think about what's going on in the world, whether it's bio-terrorism, cloning, global warming, or whatever. It affects us all. I think it was a worthy, & noble effort to try to create a world of people who are empaths, and I think that it might solve alot of our current problems, if you felt the pain of someone else as much as your own, you wouldn't be able to be angry at them or kill them. Maybe. In theory. I just saw the finale, so I'm still mulling it over in my head what they were saying. For or against cloning, I think they were saying against, for now. But, be open to the science of it for the future.

I was really happy to see Wes in the finale, and also have a montage of some of the characters, although again, we missed Caroline.

Anyway, I'm really upset the show is over. For those who said that the American's bought it, they did, but, unfortunately, just the syndication rights. It's airing on ABC in NY currently, and only Seasons 1 & 2. They shamelessly jump around, though. I think, unfortunately, the show is over b/c I actually contacted an executive at Shaftsbury films and she said:

Subject: Season 5?
Dear Sirs,

I love ReGenesis, and watch it in the US. I was wondering if there is going to be a Season 5 and when it will start filming/airing?

Thanks for any and all information.

Sincerely,

Hi Hazel -

Thanks for your email.

Unfortunately, no, there will not be a fifth season of ReGenesis – season four was its last.

All the best,

Hi Shannon,

Thanks for your quick response, I appreciate it. The end of ReGenesis is sad news indeed for the show & it’s fans, and of course everyone who worked on the show.

I heard a rumor that the show has been bought by the USA, and is being developed here. Is that something you can confirm?

Thanks again,

Hazel

This is the first I’ve heard of this so I think it’s probably just a rumour.
