I'm american and this show offends me

Almost every other episode seems to imply that america is behind every major outbreak of whatever from the bubonic plague on. It literally lampoons my country and that is offensive.

Then maybe you should do some historical research on US bio-warfare programs. I ran across "ReGenesis" accidentally when searching Google video for documentaries on this very subject. I'm also American, and probably older than you, but even after reading quite a bit on this subject and traveling overseas, it still came as a shock to learn how many people in numerous nations are resentful, suspicious, or even fearful of the US government. American people are generally well-liked, but not our representatives.
I'm not going to cite all the specific reasons--if you're interested, you should do your own research and reach your own conclusions. But bear in mind that the US has been the largest manufacturer and dealer of military weapons--of all types--for decades. I'd suggest looking into the Anthrax attacks that occurred in the eastern US weeks after the 9/11/01 attacks, or reading up on the Polio and Smallpox vaccine trials done in Africa starting in the late 1950's, along with the Hepatitis B vaccine trials that took place in the US in the late '70's.There is plenty of well-sourced information that may surprise you greatly.

The Tuskegee study of syphilis among Americans of African ancestry, which continued for 25 years after the discovery of penicillin, without using it to treat the subjects.

Eugenics. Not bio-warfare, but definitely science gone mad. In this country, it captured a good part of the intelligentia's imagination, before Adolph got hold of it and took over Europe with it.

Speaking for my Cherokee ancestors, and as one who is proud of my country's freedoms and my fellow citizens, I believe the US has a great deal to be ashamed of in the history of its governments' policies, and in a minority of its citizens' actions. On balance, pride vs. shame, I would not presume to be Justice, blindfolded, with a set of scales in my hand.

I lived through the Civil Rights wars as a young man, and I am proud to see, among *many* other things, what our electoral process has produced in Washington DC. Let the dead bury the dead, I guess.

That was Zen. This is Tao.

I am Canadian and I always found it puzzling how many Americans are oblivious to what their government does outside of their country. Even when they are told about it, they dismiss it because they don't believe it or are indifferent to it.

The post above yours is a great example of it.

I'm American and I kinda see your point, but I'm willing to grant leeway because,

1) The worst offender is the same guy who broke protocol, violated professional ethics and what some might call human decency, causing an outbreak of a bad disease.

2) The portrayal of PLA and one of its generals was well-done.

3) I haven't seen all of it, so I'm waiting to see if the Canadian government ever does something bone-headed. If it doesn't happen, I'll probably have to judge the show as less even-handed than The A-Team, but almost as funny.

i'll have to disagree but i see where you are coming from.... i think it just happens the nationality of those people might tend to happen to be american.... but i think they are more implying those characters in particular are *beep* not the entire nation... and the fact they are american comes from the fact that your country is miles forward on the economic scene compare to mexico and canada and for that matter most country in the world... and at the same time can logically exploit the gigantic power houses corporate america is.... but if you notice it's always in foreign ground those guys hide their asses.... and don't forget that some (most) of them mean no harm in the first place... it just turns out it's *beep* up at the end.... that's why every medical institution answer to an ethical board and they can't do whatever they want (in most cases)....

but most important don't forget it's a work of fiction...

Congratulations on being a living cliche of American idiocy.

Seriously, nobody cares that you're offended, idiot.

H'mm. Not a great advert, I think.

Can a country have an opinion?

Here we can celebrate the democratisation of the internet.

Ridiculous post, go watch any American TV show and ask yourself who it might offend. Canada gets bashed on a regular basis by American TV.

reply

yeah the Canadians have it wrong ,they how low gun crime (well far lower than the states on all crimes as it goes) they produce more people willing to do things to better lives for everyone else ,and america? well they like to start wars ,waste millions of dollars and waste peoples lives on political and financial gain for the country ,unfortunately the americans who do care about the rest of the world are in the drastic minority .
Offended by this? well unfortunately it's a case of tough ,everyone has opinions ,don't like them, live with it ,or in america's case you blow them up

Don't scare me....i poop easily

I am an American, and I love this show, and I am grateful that it was made - my only issue with ReGenesis is that it is only 4 seasons long.
