Anybody else doing anything drastic to see this film?

Hey folks,

A month ago I was living in small-town Iowa building grain bins for an Amish guy (no joke!) when I found out "Second Chance" wasn't going to be shown anywhere in my home state. (Sheesh, I'm a huge ST fan and he never really did shows in Iowa and now his film isn't gonna be shown there!)

So, I looked on the website and found out where it's gonna be shown at. I noticed it was gonna be shown in Louisville, KY. I had plans to move there in late April of this year since that's where my future better half goes to College.

However, once I found out that Steve's movie was being shown there, I up and moved right away. I literally plan to go see the film every day it's out that I possibly can. I've been printing off posters and calling people about this film - It just looks so good! I've actually got a large group of family and friends coming down from Iowa just to see it.

Oh, and Steve...
If you read this, my fiancé Lindsey says "Thank You" for getting me down here sooner.

Wow. I thought I had it rough. I have to drive 15 minutes too. But I can park for free and their is no escalator involved. There is snow and cold to take into consideration though.

I've got to drive at least 25 minutes to get to it...and there might be snow involved for me too....and I'm gonna buy popcorn, coke, and candy....and then take escalators.....who's the martyr now?

I've got to put on a suit, drive to the world premiere next Thursday, smile and shake hands with total strangers prior to the screening and then hang out at the after-party's sumptuous buffet to accept adulation and praise until the wee hours of the morning. The things I do for this project...

Tell Lindsey, "You're welcome."

Well I have to drive at least 4 hours up to Arlington and then after the movie fight the friday evening traffic down I-95 and then through the I-64 parking lot in Hampton just to get back home.

And I am doing this all for Michael. Sorry Steve.

The closest theatre is Irvine which is about an hour away. so, my options:

1) blackmail my friend who has a car, but no license, into driving me.

2) hitchike.

3) wait a little longer and download a crappy version from the internet.

4) wait......even longer. for the DVD.

5) have Steve Taylor show up at my house and drive me to the theatre.

option 4 is most likely, but option 5 would be so so awesome.

If I still lived in Southern California, I'd happily drive you. But since money's a little tight these days, I'd have to charge you what I believe is the state-mandated 34 cents per mile. At that point, it would possibly be cheaper to pay your friend's bail if they get caught driving without a license (not that I'm advocating breaking the law) or even offer a generous tip to keep certain psycho-predators from heading to the Mojave Desert after they pick you up (not that I'm advocating hitchhiking). Option 3 is out of the question because I have implanted spyware inside any computer that's part of this message board, and by the time you've waited for option 5, someone will have spoiled the shocking "Sixth Sense"-style twist ending.

I see your dilemma.

Steve,

If that really is you posting, I'm really excited to hear you did a movie. But when are we going to get a new album? At least did you write anything with Peter Furler for the next Newsboys album?

It's a two hour drive to the nearest theater for me. Not sure if I can make it with my four kids under 13. When does it come out on video?

reply

I would like to see the movie but it is not playing in PA or NY. It would be nice to know when it will be released nationwide and not in selected markets as advertised on the official website. I guess I have to wait it comes out on DVD, also.

reply

It's playing in NYC I think.

reply

Maestro232,

If you know where it might be playing in NYC, please let me know. Thanks

i have to walk to the theatre 5 minutes down the road, or ride my bike. go up to my sister, tell her i want to see the movie, then she has to go tell the manager who i am and then i have to go walk into the theatre and find a good seat. i might have to buy a drink though.

I guess I didn't have to do much. The film company sent me the DVD screener a month ago. :) Not to rub it in. In any case, it's definitely worth going to see. And don't worry, I drive 47 miles one-way to work everyday, so I guess that makes up for the screener coming to me! :( God bless!

I'll be anxiouusly awaiting news(hopefully great news) that the opening weeks numbers were so high that it will be shown in Myrtle Beach soon. Sorry, Steve, but just couldn't travel in to Columbia,SC this opening weekend with the kids being sick. I can assure you we are getting the word out amongest our locals in anticipation!! MB should have the demographics which promoters seek, strongly supportive of any films wholesome and spirit-filled such as this. Praying you had a strong opening!!!BTW... Please perform again!!...your music is still very inspiring and a tonic for thirsty souls.

Well, I broke down and went to see it in Times Square even though I was only in NYC for one day. It was worth it! Go see it if you can. It's Taylor's first shot at a movie, so it's not the most amazing thing you'll see, but for a first effort, this is a well-crafted movie.

See it for the story and the message, though, not the cinematography or music or acting.

Hmm. I went with my church from Cincinnati to Nashville. But we did a lot of other things too.

or you could download it.. it could possibly count as a sin, so that's pretty drastic.
