Easy to slam someone else's work

I love you armchair critics who've most likely never put their balls on the line in creating a finished work of art of any kind. You want to slam the movie because it showed a foot on a gas pedal? Make your own *beep* movie.

While I have quibble with the movie, like how healthy and clean-shaven the main guy looks at the end of his coke binge, little things like that, the fact remains that at the Arclight where I saw this at the end of the festival with a nearly full-house, people were laughing their asses off throughout the movie.

It was extremely well received by a very knowledgeable and sophisticated audience. It does not deserve the low rating it has here.

And to you asshats who are knocking this and other movies down, I suggest you try putting some kind of project together yourselves, you pussy wannabes.

It sucks.

Hey, you're right, it is easy to slam someone else's work!

reply

you suck. hey it's even easier to slam you!

At least try to come up with your own jokes.

Everyone who worked on this got their very own blue buttplug to kiss and lick.

Nothing is more beautiful than nothing.

Your's is the classic "Well, could you do better?" defense of meaningless cr**p. Should we not criticize our leaders if we're not politicians? Do you not compain if a waiter gives you cr*p service? Don't be ridiculous. Not to mention, many, many, many of these people who write on the boards are either, a. Industry themselves, b. Film School grads wanting to be in c. Film geeks that support the industry. And so what if they sit on their armchairs. You don't complain when they like a movie, do you? Do you wish they had no opinion whatsoever? Relax. That's your audience speaking. Sometimes they clap, sometimes they boo.

I've come to realize that most people that are in the message boards are still in middle school.

I thought it was a good movie though.

Along with the majority of the US Senate and the Adventist church.

Some people just cant appreciate a movie unless it has good special effects or gore

This is why good movies like this and Idiocracy don't make it to theatres because of idiots like you

All I was saying that it is easy to slam someone else's work ... esp. if one has not done the huge effort it takes to create something with a little heft - a novel, a movie, a stand-up comedy act - him or herself, because one doesn't understand the work, and therefore has no respect for the effort involved. I didn't say "well, could you do better?"

You are completely ignoring the point of MY post, which was the whole audience at the Arclight was laughing its *ss off at the showing I saw. You can't fake that.

Speaking as a person who has written a weird and little-read novel, several cds of weird but beautiful, and not particularly commercial cds, I give a lot of credit to people who bring the their visions to fruition on their own, not backed by a studio, or a label, and so cut them slack ... having experienced both being ignored and, when not ignored, misunderstood and even ridiculed by idiots, morons, and critics i'm not as quick on the trigger as i used to be ...

... real artists ship ... the rest just talk.

that is not to say i haven't seen some awful true indie films - poorly conceived, written, directed, acted, with dishonest plot twists, etc. (I realize i am describing most of hollywood's current output as well). this just is not one of them.

While we're on the subject ... what HAVE you done lately, fla-mbé?
