You know how its based off a true story?

When they say its based off a true story, do they just mean the part where there was argument over land [i think thats what it was about] and the girl was in the woods and the man killed her, and the mother looked for her every day?
Or that AND about a family coming and the girl being named lucy finds the doll and all that , and they find the girls body?
or was that made up?

As far as I know, the legend was that the girl named Lucy dissapeared, that much is true. Supposedly the mother called for her and that's the whole ghost aspect, (you could still hear the mom's cries or whatever) however, nobody knows what happened ot the girl. no one found a body.

and i lived in princeton and i don't remember an arguement over land, i'm sure there were some people that opposed getting windmills, but not because of spirits or whatever, they just thought they'd be ugly.

The truth of the story (i think) is that there was a property dispute back in the late 1700s that's when Lucy went missing. Years later after her parents died, Tilly Littlyjohn made a death bed confession that he killed her and stuffed her body in an uprooted tree. Her body has never been found.
