Movie of the Game

I know this isn't a movie of the game, but there's nowhere else to talk about it, and Valve is planning to get something made.

So yeah. It ought to qualify as an art film. Something not Hollywood, something untraditional. Why not make a first-person movie to match the game? No dialogue from Gordon Freeman, no third person shots of him, just all from his perspective in the hazard suit. Maybe every now and then we might see him in a reflection.

I just think it'd work better that way. Anything else wouldn't be Half-Life.

That's a great idea(s)... I never thought of that... because I never thought of it at all. LOL

But seriously it sound great. I'd just hope it wouldn't suck big time like other movie-after-game movies like Doom... no matter what type of movie or how big the budget is... The FP perspective and mute Gordon sounds really cool, for a movie even more so... hmmm...

Rock on Half-Life! One of the rare good games out there... the story is so abstract yet so intrigueing... :)

reply

OMG BOOOOORRRRING! That is a terrible idea.

Just like doom, resident evil, and all those crappy games, if they make a half-life (game) movie, it will be sh*t!

Your a phucking moron. HE SAID AN ART FILM!!!! NOT SOME GODDAMN GENERIC HOLLYWOOD SCHIT ADAPTATION!!!!!

No. If you looked at the plot summary, and the amount of outrage/defense of the contents of the film, you would know. This isn't a movie adaptation of the game.

reply

If a good director as opposed to Uwe Boll got hold of the script and liked it it could be great. There's no reason a game adaption should be any worse than a book adaption.

reply

You cant do an art movie out of an action game, and you can have mute lead role. Either Gordon Talks or he isnt in it.

btw you know there are topics on the page for the Video Game, that makes a lot more sence that posting it in here. :S

You CAN make an art movie out of an action game it's just that no director has had the balls to do it yet. They all just want to pop it out as quick as they can like all the ones before it simply for the money. A great director could work wonders with a Half-Life movie if he was really willing to dedicate himself to it.

A half life movie could be done very well if you gave it the right feel. Something like 28 Days Later or Children of Men.

Hell if Alfonso CuarĂ³n directed it that would be amazing. Half Life is a great story, more so Half Life 2, and it could make an amazing movie.

reply

Firstperson movie would blow imo.

reply

You never know, it hasn't been done before. Think of it... a 2hr movie in one shot.... o.O

Half-life should not be made into a movie. Movies based on video games are never good.

reply

I would love it, but it would be hard for some to watch... Like Cloverfield, the camera would be shaky.

ya on your *beep* period?
