Was the documentary camerman sitting on the hood?

As Joseph Fiennes and Winona Ryder were driving along the dirt road (just before they crash into the metal grill), the camera angle was entirely shot from a front-view perspective. Since this movie is supposed to be a mock-documentary from the perspective of the cameraman (Wilmer Valderrama) following Fiennes around (and because he wasn't in the back seat of the car), was Valderrama supposed to be riding on the hood of the car for this scene? Help me out here folks.

reply

no, he was actually on a jetpack flying backwards

I think, only the parts with the white rectangle were meant to be shot for the documentary.
Most parts of the movie were shot by a, for the persons in the movie, invisible camera

reply

then why he was not at the back seat? or may he was at the trunk?
