charming 21st century take on French farce

some posters on this board obviously hated it (or at least disliked it) and others enjoyed it.

I found it absorbing and enjoyed it - the misunderstandings, the pretenses, everyone trying to find happiness and looking in the wrong place - and to see the gorgeous Jean-Marc Barr as sexy Didier was an added bonus.

someone said that none of the characters cared about each other - to me it was clear that they did, but (like many of us) they had got into situations that made it difficult to be open with each other. and as for the teenage son being annoying - of course he was, he was a petulant adolescent! but he had okay moments, and doesn't everyone go through the sulky stage?

and while I thought the parents song & dance act for their son & his friend was weird, the musical number at the end was fine - more like a Bollywood movie than a French film, but hey, who says you can't end a romantic farce with a bit of interpretive dance?

Well said. My thoughts exactly.

same here, it is a charming film

I didn't care much for it - I'm usually a sucker for the long line of French 'emotions and secrets on holiday' kind of film but found the leading lady just too irritating, the humour heavy handed and well....just not for me

BUT I do give it a little more credit after seeing your thread title - 21st Century take on French Farce (couldn't quite go with the 'charming'). On that level, I agree - (and could almost then tolerate the musical number at the end !)

Don't know if you can help, but my recording cut out after the scene where the couple are in the shower, what happened?

"Teenagers are so conventional." -> charming reversal.
