when the truck got stuck after the gate was locked

they walk back to the camp and you see this treaded bucket loader. They could have taken that back to get the truck unstuck and it should also have been strong enough to pry open the shut gate where they wanted to go down the road. I also wondered how the guy drove a truck that far, notorious gas gusslers, for that distance without some kind of refuel stop or real big fuel tanks. I drove one last winter and it was fun but I was buying gas almost daily.
