Islamic Terrorism Whitewash

Sure, they show this mystery phone man to be ruthless. But then at the end, they go out of their way to whitewash Islamic violence and oppression

1. He reads off a list of "atrocities" done to Muslim in Mindanao, while utterly neglecting the brutal war Muslims have been waging to impose their fascistic sharia'h on a non Muslim country and its people for centuries. No doubt the Filipino government was harsh to the Islamic crazies, but who wouldn't when Osama clones want to annex part of your counrry.

2. The guy's father is a turncoat Muslim from Mindanao who made money denouncing these murderous terrorists, so killing him and then getting Adam to give up his money seems like justice.

3. Then at the end, it a scene that could have been only added to make Muslims feel like righteous victims, Adam's American girlfriend tells him that she aborted the baby cause she didn't want to have a Muslim baby. Duh?? She was his girlfriend and knew he was Muslim. Adam was no fanatic or even an observant Muslim. So she is PC enough to go out and sleep with a Muslim but not have his kid? You'd think that they could have come to some sort of MO like the kid choose his religion at puberty or something enlightened like that if she really loved each him.

4. There is a strain of idiocy that infects many enlightened people on the left, certainly not all, that Muslims are some righteous rebels that are for freedom and the all nebulous people. I guess that fantasy must have replaced the older fantasies where the Communists were some hip agents of change and freedom.

reply

Its not whitewashing to have the terrorists speak about attrocities done to his people. That is how terrorism starts. Why can't you rightists stop looking for leftist motives in every movie?

reply

It was the Moros, essentially invaders from Java, who forced out the indigenous non Muslims in the area to begin with: I guess Right means standing up for secular government, human rights, womens' and gay rights.

Fierce clashes between Muslim separatists(jihadists) and government troops have displaced nearly 130,000 people in the southern Philippines, officials said on Monday (local time), but the government has vowed to press on with today's local election.
The separatist Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) had called for elections in the six province Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao to be cancelled because they want a new Muslim homeland with more political powers established as part of a comprehensive peace deal.

I certainly wouldn't want any violent Islamic fascists trying to carve a homeland out of my country, would you?

reply

YES, clearly the film agrees with the main antagonist, as so many do!
You know what else Whitewashes terrorists? Delta Force! One of the guards says we're not at war with you, just your government. TYPICAL TERRORIST TALKING POINT

reply

Who gave the Muslims the right to move into the Philippines then start seizing land and driving off farmers? The filipino government has been way too forebearing with them. Muslims think they have a right to start turning everyplace they move into little Irans or Saudi Arabias. My solution is simple, live like the rest of the Filipinos or move back to Malaysia or Indonesia.

reply

I agree that this film verged on being terrorist propaganda. One point that was not made in the film is this: how can you expect to be physically free if your mind is not free? By that I mean, why do so many in the Philippines and around the world worship foreign gods, whether Muslim or Christian? Don't worship religions forced upon you by conquerors, and only then can you begin to free yourself. If you're Asian, don't worship Middle Eastern Semitic gods.

good point. The Islamic types there originally came from Indonesia area so they represent more of an armed nomadic incursion/invasion rather than say a bunch of people en masse converting. THe Catholics there are more of what you said, they orignally followed the religion of the Spanish colonials

reply

Jakealope, are you filipino? did you or have you ever studied the history of the philippines? Your information is COMPLETELY untrue. The people of the philippines, whether they are from the Tagalog region in Luzon, the Bisayan in the middle or the Moros in the South all migrated there from different regions of the southeast asian area thousands of years ago, even before Christ. Islam is THE OLDEST monotheistic religion in the Philippines. It reached the archipelago in the 12th and 14th century when the Arab traders were going to the far East to trade spices and other goods. Ferdinand Magellan didn't come to the Philippines until 1521. These are all facts that you can look up online instead of rambling on without any actual proof to back it up.
After the arab traders left, the entire archipelago was not Muslim. Why? Islam was not forced on them like the Spaniards forced Catholicism on practically every single nation that they colonized starting from the New World on. When Magellan came, there were tribes in the Luzon and Visayan region that were still polytheistic or animastic tribes.

Furthermore, the people who lived in Bangsamoro had been in that region thousands of years before the arrival or either Islam or Christianity and again, if you would even bother to do some historical research you would read that this region had many nomadic tribes that traveled from one area to another and if you look at the cultural and linguistic history of Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia you would see many similarities. The region of Malaysia closer to Mindanao and especially the province called Sabah has a large christian population which surprise surprise lives in peace with its Muslim neighbors. Last time I checked Malaysia was *lo and behold* an Islamic country!!!! An Islamic country with a thriving economy, very low crime rate and low poverty rate. Compared to the philippines which has a struggling, third world economy, unbelievably high crime rate and one of the worst poverty areas known to mankind.

My mother is from Luzon, I have lived there and since leaving have returned many times and have seen the life, the people and it makes me sad. They are so hypnotized and brain washed by the West and have completely forgotten or disregarded their great history, the 200 years of oppression from Spanish colonization and are now oppressing their own people. The people of Bangsamoro deserve their land back, the government started a campaign back in the marcos days to push for more catholic migration in that area. No one likes to have their land and their livelihood taken from them but I guess no one really cares until it happens to them.

I really hope to God you are not filipino because when I hear filipinos talk like this it makes me cringe. But it would especially sad if you were a filipino american who have never been there, doesn't even speak tagalog nor know anything about the history of their ancestors. Filipinos who are only filipinos when its convenient for them. Otherwise they're just white with brown skin.

I am no apologist or fan of the Spanish or Roman Catholicism. But don't lay this rap on me that Islam is some postive thing. Islam is far worse than Catholicism. When you say that Christians live at peace with their Muslim neighbors, it is not peace, it is a second class existence based on fear and intimidation of and by the Muslim majority. Just recently, in your Islamic paradise of Malaysia, your peaceful tolerant Muslim pals have been burning & attacking Christians because the Christian moron clergy their got permission to use "Allah" for "God" in their services. Kind of makes you wonder if those pastors are psychotic or retarded. Don't make me laugh with your phony tolerance. non Christians are treated far better in Christian and western countries than non Muslims are treated in Islamic countries, starting with Saudi Arabia. Povery and degradation exist in abundance in Islamic countries too. But anyone who calls himself a progressive and/or liberal and supports Islamicists is a retarded hypocrite. There is absolutely nothing progressive about Islam.

reply

Almost any organized religion has atrocities in its history. A lot of people don't even begin to understand the genocides by Catholics in the New World. Or the English! Massacres were synonymous with English colonialism. So far, I'd say Islam has a ways to go to match the atrocities of socalled Christians.

But so what? There isn't any cosmic justice that entitles victims of genocide to commit genocide. Though maybe that's a belief system, too. God demands the books be balanced, so God is in favor of a Muslim global vendetta.

Question I have is how many people really subscribe to this. And eye for an eye makes the whole world blind was Gandhi's response. He COULD have supported mass killing of English after what they did in his part of the world, but he saw that these revenge cycles really refuse to end. Muslims who want "justice" by torturing and maiming and slaughter are just being as stupid as every homicidal group before them. Part of the human brain still lags back in prehistory. You can choose to have your life run by it, or you can make your choices from the MOST evolved part of your brain. As to "deterring" violence by cruelty, there's never been the slightest proof of that. Jews, Muslims, Native Americans, none of them died because they looked too weak to resist. The killers were sociopaths who were driven by their own sickness. If you kill anyone but the sociopaths, you are merely pouring energy into the genocide machine. Its like the Monster of the Id on Forbidden Planet, gaining strength from the emotions of angry people.

Yeah yeah, we all know that the earlier Xtians, Jews, Romans, Greeks, English etc committed all sorts of horrific acts by even the standards of their days. Then throw in the Mongols too. But this is the present and we have higher standards and we must insist that the Muslim world respect basic human rights or face ostracism, ridicule or worse. Yes it would be tempting to go carpet bomb some Muslim stronghold in Mindanao or where ever in retribution but as your Gandhi said, that won't work. Bear in mind, Muslim-Hindu riots and warfare during the Partition in 1948-9 claimed millions of lives. And Islamic oppression and mass murder in both Pakistan and Bangladesh drove out and killed almost all non Muslims while India has the largest Muslim population in the world.

What are they doing? Why do they come here?
Some kind of instinct, memory, what they used to do.

reply

It is tempting to think of the Mongols as the most murderous and wonder why no one is committed to balancing those books. Truth is the Mongols never suffered for their wrongs. But then, that's the way it tends to be. William Sherman recommended starving the tribes of the plains and did what he could to see it happen. The tribes haven't really done much at all to get revenge. We not only didn't get revenge from the Germans, we helped them recover because we looked to the East and saw something slightly more ominous.

But, really, the ones you think are the worst aren't. Even Hitler's attempt to wipe out the Jews didn't come close to our reduction of Native Americans to a couple of hundred thousand. Odd that those who regard us as The Great Satan don't bring that up, but I guess since the Native Americans weren't Muslim...who CARES?

Honestly, I don't know if our values are that much advanced. There are some hints that we're just as rotten as we've always been. And with these sociopaths, I don't even believe it will satisfy them if we behave as we should. Frankly, what we do to insects is probably what needs to be done with "militants" of every stripe. You can befriend people who love life and seek happiness. But with people who only seek death, yours and/or theirs, there's no good solution. They have all the reasonability of a cockroach and have to be approached in the same way.

I guess the Mongols decline back to near stone age lifestyle took a lot of thirst for revenge out their victims. Besides, most of the nations they trashed ceased to exist.

As far as your odious and dishonest comparison of the plight of the American Indians to the Jews under the Nazis, most Indians died as a result of smallpox and other diseases that were brought unintentionally by the first Europeans and their livestock. I can not accept your slanderous lie against the US, whereas you assert we systematically murdered over 6 million Indians, after they were once totally integrated into our society. Even the most diehard Native Americans who tallied up all the various massacres, unsystematic and unplanned as they were, and in over 200 years the tally didn't surpass 12K dead Indians, which has to be counterbalanced by settlers they in turned massacred. then you carelessly omitted the wreckage wrought by the Spaniards and other colonials and laid the whole rap on the US.

It seems every scumbag who wants to flack for some mass murdering Communist or Islamofascists has to bring up the Indians, exaggerate their suffering and use that as a stick to say: "Don't complain about us, you Nazis"

reply

diseases that were brought unintentionally by the first Europeans

Wrong. Read That They Numbers Be Thinned by Dobyns. The world, but most of all the Americans, are really living with their heads in a cloud of confusion about atrocities around the world. They don't WANT to know the truth, anymore than Germans wanted to know what their government was doing. And it makes them very angry when it gets brought up, which should make people understand better about how Turkey reacts when the Armenians are brought up. We like to think only Milosevic or Hitler could do such things. But that's pure self-flattery.

Jack Weatherford is either the pre-eminent anthropolgist in the area of native American peoples, or at least one of them. He wrote the following:

Because Columbus captured more Indian slaves than he could transport to Spain in his small ships, he put them to work in mines and plantations which he, his family, and followers created throughout the Caribbean. His marauding band hunted Indians for sport and profit — beating, raping, torturing, killing, and then using the Indian bodies as food for their hunting dogs. Within four years of Columbus' arrival on Hispaniola, his men had killed or exported one-third of the original Indian population of 300,000.

That, of course, was just the introduction to centuries of extermination that included things like silvery slavery in the Andes where natives worked in mining till they dropped dead. And William T Sherman's extermination of the buffalo to accomplish with the plains tribes what he earlier accomplished with Georgia in the Civil War, namely, starving the enemy to death.

Read a little. Abandon these illusions of saintliness.

After the fall of the Inca Empire, the new Spanish rulers brutally oppressed the people and suppressed their traditions. Many aspects of Inca culture were systematically destroyed, including their sophisticated farming system. The Spaniards used the Inca mita (mandatory public service) system to literally work the people to death. One member of each family was forced to work in the gold and silver mines, the foremost of which was the titanic silver mine at Potosí. When a family member died, which would usually happen within a year or two, the family would be required to send a replacement.

Wow, what a coincidence. Hitler did the same thing with Jewish and Slavic prisoners. But then, Hitler knew about how subjugated people were treated in this hemisphere and admired it!

We are talking about the USA, not the Spanish empire & it's out of control colonial agents. So now the US is the repository of all the West's guilt for the maltreatment of the Indians? Don't forget the French, British, Portuguese, German & even Dutch for they all had new world colonies.

reply

Really, what did they know about diseases in the 17th through 19th centuries? Not too much.

You are complete scum comparing the US to the Nazis. if we were that bad then ALL THE INDIANS would be dead, you low grade moron. It took a coalition of almost all the great powers in the world to stop Hitler in an all out war or he would have succeeded.

I am not justifying the way we treated the Indians in the past but Nazis we weren't. Scum like you love throwing that crap around so you can drag us down to your degenerate craven level. When the next mass murdering megalomaniacs come around, your cowardly ilk will be defending them by telling us we have no right to stop them since we are just as bad. So shove off!

"Hitler's concept of concentration camps as well as the practicality of genocide owed much, so he claimed, to his studies of English and United States history. He admired the camps for Boer prisoners in South Africa and for the Indians in the wild west; and often praised to his inner circle the efficiency of America's extermination - by starvation and uneven combat - of the red savages who could not be tamed by captivity." P. 202, "Adolph Hitler" by John Toland

You know, the world is scandalized by Holocaust deniers. But we have our own blindness where we simply cannot accept that Europeans would deliberately massacre those who occupied the land they wanted. "Lebensraum". Hitler didn't invent it. He was merely the last to arrive at the party.

Jake, the fact that "they" always give a 'pass' to the Sp*cs(IE: Spain & Portugal) when it comes to the treatment of New World Natives, bugs me to NO END...

Actually, the colonial power who treated the Indians the best was France. Maybe that was one of the reasons Quebec was so easily overwhelmed later on by the British because so few French colonists actually settled there.

Who is "they"? Must be lay people. The scholars are quite clear about the murderous nature of conquistadors. And Columbus, who is after all, Italian. Hard to find anybody to glorify. Well, there was the QUAKERS. So long as William Penn ran his colony, there was peace with the natives. He respected them and kept his word.

The 'they' are the folks who always seem to be exercised over "American" treatment of "Native Americans" yet they don't seem to give a second's thought about the Spanish--especially since in many places the social structure that was put into place 'back then' still seems to be IN place;

NM

reply

I suppose some such people exist. But unless they somehow defend the Spanish in the Western Hemisphere, no one should assume "they" don't care. I mean, what are Americans supposed to do about the Turks' treatment of Armenians? Or the Romanians treatment of Roma which was longer and worse than Americans' treatment of Africans? The problem in America is this tendency to inflate America as the shining city on the hill, the last bright hope of humanity. In the process, people will pretend all sorts of things never happened, just like the Japanese pretend they didn't kill millions of Chinese. That is what Americans have to fight against, the tendency of America to self-whitewash. If the Spanish do the same thing, it will be the same problem. But it won't be America's problem. Just because Israel wiped out the Cana'anites doesn't make it right for the Arabs to wipe out the Israelis. History isn't some huge scale always having a need to be put in balance. But if truth makes free, then untruth enslaves. That is why truth is precious.

All I can say is, well that's the human race for you...

AND I HAVE to add that you missed the point: You went back to the 'conquistadors' but Spain was in control of Latin America up until the 1800s; How did Spain treat IT'S Indigs in THAT time? Is there any University Professors in Spain who has dined out for decades telling his students how lousy his country is a-la Howard Zinn? Has Anybody wave the 'genocide' flag when it comes to Spain in regular conversation? No it's always, "Custer, Sand Creek, Wounded Knee..."

NM

reply

You are reading things into my words (though I'm not totally convinced you read them). In any colonial history, the assessment covers the whole time they were the rulers. I just mentioned the conquistadors because of their symbolism. And, no, most genocides aren't even discussed. Truth is that the Holocaust has pre-empted the whole field, and some people are just as happy it is that way. As for Spanish scholars, why don't you find the answer? If, that is, you really even want to know.
