What do you think would have happened...

What do you think would have happened if Clarke hadn't pushed Mary away when he found out about her pregnancy?

I think Mary was planning to staying with Clarke as his mistress or wife once they got to Botany Bay for the sake of her child, which was why she was asking Clarke about his wife and whether he had any children. Unfortunately (well, for me anyhow :P), Clarke rejected her and the baby and she went back below deck and had her baby and fell for Will.

I know it's all speculation, but it's kind of fun to think up alternate stories...

I reckon, had Clarke not pushed her away then they would still be together.
They would have gotten married and had more children, the men wouldn't have excaped. There would be no major story and the mini series would never have been made! Ha, sorry I am tired, sick and upset. My mind goes into over happiness!!!

Yet she left him after he had Elizabeth whipped..... he may have forgiven her had she not taken it upon herself to leave the dress behind.

I thought she asked him if hehad children so she could sleep with him then say that the baby was HIS.. thus well.. you can figure out how that would end..

I think they would have stayed together, but she would have had an ongoing affair with Will.

What did the Blonde say when her boyfriend blew in her ear?
Thanks for the re-fill

I don't see how some people think Mary and Clarke would have been a good couple. I don't think they had chemistry at all, and it was clear Mary was only using Clarke. When she was caught by him, she started sucking up to him, but he didn't fall for it that time. At first, Will and Mary didn't have much chemistry either, but it was evident at the end she really loved him. I keep thinking, what if Will hadn't turned around and charged at Clarke with the machetti (if that's how you spell it). I know he would have died anyway, but Mary and the children would have got to say goodbye. Wouldn't Will have been captured like the other two men?

Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one ;)

I think he charged at them because he wanted to die there and then - he couldn't face being re-captured because he thought he'd be dragged back to England, re-tried and hung anyway, so in his eyes there was no point in carrying on.

The poor chap made a mistake though - he should have thought more of Mary's feelings and stayed alive so that he could protect her for as long as possible. In the end he'd have been free and still with her.

The scene on the boat where Mary breaks down as they take her dead children from her was one of the saddest things I've ever seen - it broke my heart. An achingly beautiful piece of acting by Romola.

^ The scene where Mary breaks down when her children have died always brings tears to my eyes, and Romola's acting is brilliant in that scene. It breaks my heart in the scene before that too, when Emmanuel is crying because he is ill. He's such a cute baby.
