'Against the Wind' + 'To the Ends of the Earth'

This series reminds me of the excellent Australian TV-production "Against the Wind" (1978, DVD available in Australia). Another series in this vein is "To the Ends of the Earth" (2005, BBC2), which is based on the equally superb trilogy by William Golding.
