Is he the romantic lead or the grandson? (Please say romantic lead, please please please please....)

Neither - he is a neighbor of the couple, played by Tim Guinee and Elizabeth Reaser.

Alan Cuming plays the part of Frandsen, friend of the couple. He is married to Alex Kingston and they have 8 kids. Nothing to romantic about that.

Keep your eyes pealed though, this is going to be a very cute movie.
