Sometimes it sucks to live in the midwest...

Wow its exciting to be before New York and California for once! Even if I didn't see it until this weekend, but still...

I loved this movie. It really made me think a lot about what my grandma lived in. She was just a little girl when she came and didn't actually have a farm, but would have been just a little younger than Inge at that time in the same area. Its just amazing how much advancement people from that era have been through and how simple things were.

I just saw this film and it is a good first effort by a commercials director. But it is not a good film. There are no titles for portions of the dialogue that are unintelligible. The characters at the beginning are confusing and non-descript. Alan Cummings and Ned Beatty are good but can't hold this picture together.

reply

You don't know anything.

There are no subtitles because the dialogue is not important. You are supposed to feel the frustration of what it is like for an immigrant in a new country who can't speak the language.

Yeah, wow, the part with no subtitles (where there aren't supposed to be subtitles) is one of your reasons for this movie being not good? What about the characters at the beginning was confusing? Is this too hard of a film to follow because it isn't Employee of the Month, The Grudge 2, The Benchwarmers, Phat Girlz, Dude, Where's My Car?, From Justin to Kelly, Kazaam, Step it Up, Bring it on Too, The Honeymooners, Ed, Gigli, Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector, Date Movie, Ringmaster, Scary Movie 4, Spice World, You Got Served, It's Pat, Double Take, See Spot Run, Idlewild, Get Over It, Just Visiting, Fever Pitch, Freddy Got Fingered, My Baby's Daddy, King's Ransom, Vertical Limit, Major League 3: Back to the Minors, Species 2 or Airbud: Golden Receiver?

LOL @ sting! I am *so* jazzed (am I dating myself with that expression?) to see this movie. It sounds like the cat's meow to me. I've been looking for something on the same par as my beloved Brokeback Mountain for almost a year, now. Obsessing over the same movie for this long gets tiresome. I'm a sucker for a good love story, and there are so few intelligent, subtle, realistic, and truly moving ones out there. I can't bear to see another boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy gets girl back piece of crap again. I... I... I can't bear it. I need to see love depicted as it really is in its purest form.

But alas, I see no dates for it showing anywhere near me (South Florida). Hopefully it'll get some word-of-mouth and get a much wider release. From all I've read and seen about it so far, I can't believe it won't.
