Question about Lanie's last name?

Why wasnt her last name the same as her husbands? I thought that part was really dumb how they tried to play the whole brother/sister thing and kept her with the same last night. Only part about the movie that bothered me.

a lot of women nowadays keep their maiden name.

Lanie Luke? Or something that rhymes with Duke I imagine.

I am guessing it's because she was already famous with her maiden name and didn't want to change it. Like many news corespondants, actors, etc.

Yeah...can you imagine, say, if Venus or Serena got married? They'd still be the Williams sisters.

It is to show the relationship between her and her husband. Remember the scene at the hotel where he is frustrated because the hotel is in her name. They have a power struggle because she is the 'bread winner'.
