similar films
i really enjoy the 'fakeumentary' style of films as seen in 'the grand' and 'best in show,' so i am wondering if anyone has any recommendations to some other films with a similar format? preferably a comedy like these two.

shareThe film Tristrum Shandy was a film mostly about the crew creating a film about a book that was impossible to film. It comes off like a very long special feature of the making of a film.... unfortunately for those of us stupid enough to buy the DVD, no actual film emerges. Some people love the film, but personally, as a fan of the original book -- Tristrum Shandy -- I'd rather have seen Lawrence Sterns book on scene than a mockumentary about the filming of a book that is unfilmable.
ps. it is a commedy.

RIGOLETTO: I'm denied that common human right, to weep.
I haven't seen The Grand, but another fakeumentary film that's not as good as Best In Show, but pretty good is Blackballed: The Bobby Dukes Story, which is about a paintball team. It has some great moments, and if you like the Daily Show or Human Giant, you'll definitely recognize some familiar faces.
shareFinishing the Game
Not fake, but really funny and/or entertaining docs:
Air Guitar Nation, Word Wars, Darkon, The King of Kong, and Murderball
BOYCOTT SHAMPOO! DEMAND REAL POO!
The obvious ones:
This is Spinal Tap
Waiting for Guffman
A Mighty Wind
Reno 911: Miami
Most mockumentaries are TV shows at the moment (Thanks to The Office UK).
this film worth seeing?
shareif you like poker....yes.
if you don't.........no.
even some of the jokes wouldn't be funny if you don't play poker often.
I dont really agree. Im not a big poker player, I play rarely just to have fun. And I found it entertaining enough. Not on par with Best In Show, Mighty Wind but def enjoyable.
I hate how IMDb signatures look like part of the post. i sucky sucky && licky licky.
I enjoyed the dialogue, a lot of ad libbing in this film, these people are pros and it showed... from Parnell to Kaplan... I could have watched these guys for another couple hours.
shareCan't believe nobody mentioned Incident at Loch Ness since it is by the same director. I guess not many people have seen it. It's one of my favorites because for much of the film someone could conceivably believe it is a real documentary, but it's hilarious. It's about Werner Herzog's ill-fated attempt to make a film about the Loch Ness monster.
shareTwo mockumentaries I've seen that are pretty good are...
Behind The Mask http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0437857/
Street Thief http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0872224/
of course-reno 911 and this is spinal tap...for the lnogest time i thought spinal tap was a real band and the movie was a documentary.

the best one by far is Super Troopers but Hot Fuzz is decent as well.
shareIt's missing what I think is the best mockumentary ever
Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan
It's daring, disrespectful and outrageously funny. And it's a mockumentary by definition as almost every sequence shot were not scripted. Sasha Baron Cohen and his crew went to see real people pretending to shot a documentary about America for Kazahkstan television.
Definitly a movie to see if you like the genre.
Another more obscure film for any non french-speaking country (and probably much harder to get, especially with at least subtitles english subtitles) is
C'est Arrivé Près de Chez Vous
Way more outrageous than Borat but this time scripted with mostly amateur actors, but Mockumentary nonetheless.
It's about a serial-killer that gets a film crew to follow him during it's killing-spree commenting and giving tips about his "buisness". It's very dark humours but I guess if you laughed at Borat you would laugh harder at this one, granted you get a copy of it.
You most certainly are referring to Man Bites Dog, a most disturbingly dark comedy.
Excellent choice.
See, I take dis here and den put dat in der.
"...And God Spoke" is one of my favorite mockumentaries ever
