Eddie Mannix acquiescence of his wife's affair.

I read about this in wikipedia that Eddie Mannix has an acquiescence of the affair. This also doesn't get contradicted in the movie. I just don't understand this. Why will anyone allow his wife to have an affair with another person without any kind of protest? If Mannix wanted, he could have ruined Reeves's career or/and have given Toni a divorce. Any comments?

He had other mistresses as well. As long as everything looked good in public and she didnt ruin his reputation then what they did behind closed doors was their business.

He loved his wife and wanted to make her happy, but once she wasnt happy he had to fix that.

If Toni wanted to, she could have had her husband employ George. But she didnt want him to get big and famous. She needed him to need her. If he had no reason to need her, for money mainly, then he'd leave her. And, also, her husband probably didnt want to employ her boy toy because that was too close to home, too.

I could be wrong but I thought I read that mannix and his wife were devout cathloics and did not believe in divorce. instead the had affairs and were presumably ok with it.
