He was so over-the-top(in a very bad way) that you just had to hate him. He was not likable at all and had the potential to be. You did not want him to get the girl back in the end. This is acting at its worst.
shareI have to disagree, he wasn't bad in this at all it was his character, thats the whole point he was an over the top kinda guy, he doesn't hold back, and he gets her back for that reason, he's not boring like the other herb she's with.
shareI agree with NzA21. I found his character very likable and attractive and I am still in complete shock that it's Billy Crudup! He was so fantastic in this role, I never would have guessed it was the same guy from Big Fish and Almost Famous!

It seems as if you are judging Crudup by the characters he plays in stead of how he plays them.
Tobey - well I wouldn't want to be with a Tobey guy for 7 years like the girlfriend in the movie has but that doesn't change the fact that I felt Crudup portrayed Tobey in a very funny and believable way for a comedy such as it was.
I don't think he was that bad at allWhen there's no more room in hell, The dead will walk the earth...
I loved Billy in this movie he was right on target for the role of a man with Peter Pan syndrome.

Billy Crudup is such a good actor, he was so great in this!!! Sure, his character was kind of a jerk, but that's his character.

ah man, i really liked him the most! his character was so offbeat and quirky in quite an attractive way actually. and i was shocked to see it was him too! otherwise the movie was really really low-quality which surprises me as all the four leads are quality actors.
