I was surprised that Elaine 'fell' for his speech. For all she knew, he would still never marry her. She professed to want marriage and children, yet this guy didn't mention family at all in his speech. It was a huge issue with her - that she responded to his speech meant, to me, that she really loved him and really missed him.
