Finally a sensible person. Truth be told nothing is addictive in itself. Its the people who use the said "addictive" material, that make it addictive by convincing themselves its addictive in the first place.

Holy crap, you people are morons.

Amazing that every addictive medicine specialist, doctor, and people with even a SLIGHT clue about how the human body works (and how it varies from person to person) knows how ignorant of a thread this is.

Nicotine is an addictive substance.

This is not arguable. NOT ARGUABLE. Just because you never became addicted does not justify a blanket generalization over the entire populace of human physiology.

Curious, have you ever taken a physiology course? Any medical background? I'm assuming you're not pre-med.

If this is a troll post, then wow.. the joke is on me.

But f you are seriously that idiotic to think that "it's all in your head", I invite any of you to talk to any doctor that has dealt with opiate addiction, much less Nicotine or alcohol.

Wow, seriously. Morons. Oh, and OP, good luck with the alcohol as well.

I always figured the reason cigarettes are addictive because people start smoking them for a specific person. For example: Someone who is stressed out will have a cigarette to calm down, then every time they're a bit stressed, they want that smoke. That's how it starts, then escalates.

yup, agree with this.

Wrong. It doesn't matter "why". What matters is the fact that Nicotine is an addictive substance. Regardless of "why" (the obvious effects), it becomes a habit.

Instead of you dolts pondering and pulling your own theories out of your arses, try doing actual research or talking to people that have been addicted to Nicotine.

Still laughing at the OP. "Bar runs and nightclubbing". Seriously?? This HAS to be a troll post.

Yes they are. Just because they aren't addictive for YOU doesn't most smokers don't become addicted to them. And that's a low amount compared to most smokers.

Every person has different tolerances when relating to any sort of addictive substance. Additionally, the scale of "addiction" can also very. Just because you personally didn't get addicted, does not mean this is true for all people.
Simply put, the very structural and chemical make up of cigarettes (more specifically nicotine)is wired to cause addiction. Sorry, that's just a chemical fact. While you (or any person) may not feel any obvious cravings, other sypmtoms of addiction or dependence many be present.

Also, the fact that you don't smoke every day also should be taken into consideration. The more frequently someone intakes addictive substances, the stronger the effect. Cigaretttes especially become more addictive with continuous use (caffiene is another example).

By any chance are you over 25? Age is another factor to be considered. Children and teens are more susceptible to addiction because their brain chemistry is still developing; and they also have had less exposure to certain chemicals.

Sometimes I look back on my day and wonder why the hell I clicked on an idiotic post like this in the first place. Morbid curiousity I guess. I thought maybe there might possibly be something half sensible about the OP's post, but.. no. I was wrong.

Smoking is addictive, so stop living in denial.

That means drinking is not addictive either: I drink two or three glasses on a Saturday night and that's the only time I drink. So anyone claiming that alcohol is addictive must be lying, right?

What ya do is enjoy in moderation. If you're doing something that negatively affects you? Stop it.
