Yeah i liked Chaos better until i re-re-played Double on 360 again. . . Doing all the objectives was fun and very rewarding.

reply

well, ive only played the PS2 versions of the games, and id have to go with Chaos Theory, i like the music in Chaos Theory a lot more too, it makes the game more exciting, the Double Agent music wasnt very good i thought

reply

Yeah i liked the music in CT better. . . but the music for the start and end of DA was pretty impresive.

reply

I've noticed that the music changes, too, at least when I first fire up the X-box. There's usually one theme playing, but sometimes it changes up to a more up-beat rhythm... sometimes to a tune you can barely hear.

i was very dissapointed with DA.

i got it for the original xbox and so i didnt get all the cool new terrorist weapons and clothing that the new gen consoles would have gotten.

it was good to see the use of the "double agent" system so you can choose your sides and complete different objectives

but it just seemed like they didnt try hard enough to get the whole game onto the last gen consoles.

Shame ubisoft shame i would have been more pleased if i had the entire game
for the xbox

the great additions i thought were the gun thatshot rubber balls(cant remember its name) but that was cool because i am the kind of person who likes to take the silent approach

reply

When I first played Double Agent I didn't like it that much but I've recently started playing it again and it has grown on me and I like it.

But I prefer Chaos Theory because of the banter between Grim and Sam, and the hired goons and the comments they give when you interrogate them. And also on the Displace mission I like to kill someone to get Lambert angry

I didn't really like DA too much. I thought it was silly how Sam Fisher became so, well, boring. I loved the little dialogue, and I loved the pre-rendered cutscenes. It really made it feel like Sam Fisher, with a team of people behind his back, are trying to prevent catastrophe. Honestly, the characters in CT were so vibrant and, frankly, hilarious at times.

Besides, some of the missions in DA seemed so out of place for a stealth game. Kinshasa, especially. I know Splinter Cell was never the most realistic stealth game in the world, but I find it hard to believe that Ubisoft thinks it possible to sneak straight through a warzone undetected. Furthermore, that little tool that could send sound off away from you just made the entire game way too easy.

It's very difficult, but it can be done, use smoke grenades and knock guys out. Having every mission in the dark was getting played out, I'm glad they had more cover and line of sight stealth this time.

It's a similar affect of using the OCP to mess up machinery or black out a light to create a distraction, only you can use it in lit up areas. I thought it was an awesome tool, useful and fun to use.

I suppose it's really a matter of personal taste. I really liked it a lot more in the dark. It just seemed a lot more appropriate for numerous reasons. For example, like I was saying, sneaking through a warzone seems a little difficult in reality. I suspect smoke grenades would attract a lot of attention, and knocking guys out probably isn't as easy to do i reality as it is in the game.

Although maybe I don't think having every mission in the dark was getting played out because I had only joined the franchise at CT. I'd never played Pandora Tomorrow or the first Splinter Cell.

The difference is, the chances to use the OCP are, while common, a little more difficult to pull off than the sonic emitter. The OCP is largely dependent on you being able to aim at an often very small target (often a lightbulb), and there is a slight penalty if you miss. The sonic emitter, on the other hand, is a point-and-shoot-at-wherever-you-want-enemies-to-go gadget, and there was almost no cooldown between shots. It made the game ridiculously easy.

The Sonic Emmiter was a key tool in some situtions. I think it was more dangerous than the OCP because you could attract even more attention with it and it doesn't darken an area so you can hide while you move. It was more about having people turn their back on you while you make your move which can be very risky. But it was a key tool in daylight situations.

The thing I didn't like about the current gen DA is regenerating health, it just doesn't belong in Splinter Cell because part of what makes SC good is survival. I liked being able to survive an encounter by the skin of my teeth and trying to finish a mission with low health, or at least until I come accross a health station.

i dug both but for separate reasons. CT works great as a stealth game and is superior in that sense. But DA was better story-wise, it felt really cinematic and they're some really great moments. i also thought with DA it was cool how Ubisoft stuck with the basics but took the series in a intresting direction. overall i liked both alot and am excited about playing Conviction, that is if they'll ever finish the bloody thing.

Hi i am Justin,

I like SC DA SC PT and SP CT and the first Splinter Cell. there all good i know some pepole here right now are saying they do not like DA and that CT is better. Well it is just tat each game they make Sam has more better ways at getting around. the hacking is good it is better then just typing in the codes. i know it is hard to keep eyes out for camera's and alarms but you have to really try harder at paying attation to the mission then just walking and capturing guys you have to look all aroubnd so no fails. also when i play i know i miss things in the mission. also but you can still go to the next level. Monday i finally beat PA Pandra Tomorrow. And when i had PS2 i never ever beat the first Splinter sell game or TC or PA i left it like a book mark. It does not matter what part of Splinter Cell is good or bad music or story bottom line is your doing exacly like what they do in the movies. So it is more like a movie were creating with the light and shadow and you can get the bad guy any way you want. So if you have your own You Tube game video post it and show us how well you ddi on a Mission in any Splinter Cell game the first one, Pandra Tomorrow, Chaos T. and Doubule Agent.

Chaos was far better in terms of difficulity and typical splinter cell missions
DA was faaaaaaaar better in terms of story and unconventional but very logical and close to the plot assigments. DA was far more engaging, you could feel much more the intensity of Fisher's job, while Chaos was a standard and perhaps the longest SC game.
