Great cinema coming from Spain and Latin America!

Has anyone noticed that some of the most daring and interesting cinema is coming from Spain and Latin America?

All these films I have seen in the past 8 years have been outstanding:

Il Metodo/The Method;
Il Crimen Ferpecto/The Perfect Crime;
Motorcycle Diaries;
Babel;
Nine Queens;
Bad Education (Almodovar);
Open Your Eyes (Amenabar)

Really impressive stuff!!

I loved this film as well. Although I must honestly say I haven't seen any of the other films you listed - besides Bad Education. (which was very interesting, complicated and.. well.. impressive in an emotional way)

If you liked this film, you will also like Pane e Tulipani, I think. Give it a try.

''Cake or death?''
''Cake, please.''
''Thanks for flying Church of England.''

I would also highly recommend anything by Mexican, Guillermo del Toro http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0868219/.
Most notable of his Spanish titles:
Espinazo del diablo, El (Devil's Backbone, The)(2001) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0256009/ (Producer/Director)
Laberinto del fauno, El (Pan's Labyrinth)(2006) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0457430/ (Producer/Director)
Orfanato, El (Orphanage, The)(2007) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0464141/ (Producer)

rodin: I agree… "El secreto…" was awesome.

I just rewatched "El Metodo" for the second time last night… even better the second time. I thought the actor playing "Fernando" (the Iberian macho) was outstanding.

I hope this director (Pinyero) does another film soon that's available in the U.S. (via Netflix, etc).
