It's been a long time since I had seen such a powerful movie such as this one... characters are great, their attitudes are so real... the acting is superb, and the situations presented are really challenging.
I found this movie to be really intense. What I enjoyed most was the growing tension and especially the contrast set between the outside world going crazy and that bunch of stiff professionals trying to play by the rules. Although the script was a good job overall, some aspects could have been improved in order to capture a bit more realistic psychology...for instance I didn't understood why nobody dared to say that the food was awful. Oh, and yeah, Eduardo Noriega is a hot piece of actor and the chick wasn't bad either.
They didn't like the food at all!! The whole idea was that the food would be bad to see how they react to it...just another test..and everybody reacted not naturally, but ate the food instead because that's what they thought it was expected from them. This is what I loved most in the movie: those people struggled to behave in a way they thought was expected from them, even if there were actually no rules! They were there to become leaders, decision makers and so on in a big company but in reality they were the dominated ones. Another contrast once again...
I saw most of Noriega's work but thanks anyway for recommending..he still needs to work a bit more, to show us more feeling and more temper...or maybe this is just my denaturated opinion on latin actors, that they should all be hot blooded.
Yeah! You got it! This is one of the important points of the film. They try to act as expected but they don't know what is expected from them. So this is a huge source of anguish...
I remember when one of the characters (I think he's called "Enrique") confesses that his colleague (I think he is "Ricardo") is a syndicalist. When Ricardo turns out to be "the mole", he asks Enrique "Do you think what you have just done is well-done?" And Enrique says "No...Yes...I don't know". His voice is full of anguish. And then Ricardo dumps Enrique because he hasn't been able to decide"
I agree! That scene is amazing the whole confrontation is amazing. As per the food, I almost remember one of the guys eating it without hesitation. I'll check out the scene and return here to leave name of the character.
Well, now that I think about it, the only one of the "participants" that ate the food without complain or grin was the one who turned out to be the psicologist inthe end. I realize now this was a good hint to notice that there was a mole and it was actually him. Sorry for redundance, I edit to add something new: The "chick" is quite a sex-symbol in Spain. And you can see one of her most popular appearances in "Lucia y el sexo"
Kind of boring. As soon as they mentioned the mole I realized who it was because of some of his early behavior with the door. I also predicted who would get the job fairly early.
This kind of social deduction and pointy-headed behavior isn't exactly edifying. You can even try it yourself as the parlor game Werewolf.
