VERY FUNNY and I don't do funny.

I don't normally like comedy movies or plays.. what I find funny isn't what most people find funny so I really avoid comedies because most of the time, I think they are stupid.. not funny.. HOWEVER. I can't put into words how hard I laughed at this play on DVD. I am SHOCKED that Tyler Perry wasn't famous before now. He is MUCH funnier than Robin Williams, Jim Carrey or any other actor I have seen in ANY comedy movie.
I didn't know a thing about the movie "A Diary of a mad black woman". In fact, I thought it was a drama. I rented the movie ONLY because there was nothing else in at Blockbuster. I couldn't BELIEVE how funny this movie was.. so I started renting Tyler Perry's plays on dvd. I can't tell you how funny these dvds are. My favorite by far is "Madea's Class Reunion". I laughed so hard that I quite literally hurt and was sore the next day. I have never laughed so hard over anything I have seen in television shows or movies.
Tyler Perry is the FUNNIEST human in the entertainment field period. What is shocking is that he makes you laugh without sexual jokes, without cussing and all the while letting you know how he feels about certain issues that are important to alot of people.
Personally, I could do without all the singing.. but I still gave this dvd a 10 and would have gave it more if there was a higher rating.
Trust me, if I thought it was funny, I can't imagine anyone out there who wouldn't.

I watched Diary of a Mad Black Woman a few days ago at 3 in the morning and I did not expect it to be funny. I thought it was going to be silly and stupid but I was completely wrong. I LOVED it soooo much and ordered it. The drama without sex and all the sick things that are involved in movies was inspiring.

After that, I decided to rent his other plays and all of them (with the exception of Meet the Browns) were hilarious. My favorite though is Class Reunion. I laughed so hard during the entire thing. (Although I usually fast forward during the singing). But Madea is crazy.

Also Tyler playing the bellboy at the hotel was too funny. I agree that Tyler is funnier and more talented than what Hollywood sees as The Big Shots. I'm happy for his success and regret not going to see any of these plays that have been through my town more than once.

I can't wait to see "Madea Goes To Jail". I will probably just buy it immediately.

The reference to how most of today's singers aren't really all that good was so funny. When Tyler, as Medea, started to prove his point by singing "oooh, baby, oh baby" like Ashanti I immediately lost it. He was so dead on. I still laugh at that when I think about it. Like now! LOL!

It's even more fun seeing these plays live. You get the full effect, the adlibs and the messed up lines.

My favorite part is the "Crazy Talk" scene where he acts crazy by doing impressions from different movies. (P.S. I could not figure out what was the one where he was a woman talking to his daughter Penny. What was that from?)

It was from a show called good times

Hello everybody, I'm a relatively new fan of Tyler, though I know he has been around for awhile. So, it is a little confusing figuring out all his films and his plays on film for me as a newer fan, and which ones are regular films and which feature his original older characters and his original stable of actors, like Mr. Brown, Madea, etc., also figuring out which are both on film as plays and as motion pictures. Would somebody be kind enough to give me a list of his films and filmed plays that are available ? It would be helpful. I've looked on
IMDB, but even that can be a be confusing. Thanks for any help, it will be very much appreciated.

That and the scene where he starts doing the prayer, blackmailing Clarence.

I also thought it was very funny! I just finished watching it & I'd definitely recommend it.
