I just watched "The Lookout" for the first time last night.

Until the scene on Route 24 with Gary and Bones -- where Chris has buried the loot -- and Lewis is shown very much alive, I had thought that the body Chris discovers in the bed in his and Lewis' apartment after the robbery was Lewis.

Then, after seeing Lewis alive, I thought the body was Luvlee's.

Now, after reading this question about what happens to Luvlee, I no longer know whose body Chris saw in the bed.

Did I even see a body?

Or, am I hallucinating?

ADDITION: Disregard my questions above. I re-watched "The Lookout" a couple of days later and I now am clear about what happened: The house that Chris goes to is his parents' house. And the "body" I saw was that of his sleeping father....who was very much alive.

Hahahah okay that made me laugh. I think she just bailed when she got the idea that something shady was going on. She was stupid but not that much, it seems.

Yeah, in the director's commentary Frank says that's a common question.

What happened is that after she finds the guns in the trunk at the farm, there's a scene of Luvlee getting into a cab outside her apartment. However, because of the shot angle from inside a house we don't see the cab driver loading her luggage into the trunk. As a result it's not clear to viewers that she was leaving town. The next scene is her looking through the back window of the cab at Chris as he goes up the steps to her door, but it's not obvious that it's the last time she will see him.

Frank said Luvlee left because she knew that the gang intended to kill Chris once the bank job was over, and she couldn't deal with it. He said his poor shot with the luggage was the result of him being a first-time director and time pressures which kept him from getting a better shot. Sometimes major plot points rest on such seemingly tiny directing decisions.

Gary gave her AIDS and herpes. She died in the taxi.
