"You can stay awake for a week no problem"

LOL what?? Dr. Daniel Craig says that to Nicole when she confesses to be infected. Who in the hell can stay awake for a week no problem? And after, that, "there are meds you can use".
This movie was kind of a joke. Intense and engaging, but really silly at the same time.

Wasn't that stupid? No one can do that. That's why she passed out. She was exhausted!

reply

I wonder if I could stay awake for 48 hours without some sort of drug. I doubt it.

reply

I could barely stay awake during the movie!

reply

I think he was just saying that to comfort her.

reply

Maybe for a normal person with a normal sleep pattern it is but for someone like me who has been a severe insomniac for as long as I can remember it's not hard. I take ambien and muscle relaxers every night and in spite of that I've been up for six days straight more times then I can count. Around the third day you're so tired you can't even sleep if that makes any sense.

reply

It does make sense.

Spoiler alert for them spoil sports out there! Y'all like spoiled milk, stop crying over it!

reply

She fell asleep after what ? maybe 24 hours

I could easily stay awake for 48 hours if my life was under threat and i had to protect my son

reply

Can you stay awake for a week? Sure. With no problem? Not the typical person. Sorry all you special *beep* snowflakes that think you can.

You're not real familiar with the effects of adrenaline and the after-effects of it, are you? The situation she was in would actually make it more difficult to stay awake because her body is going to keep trying to produce adrenaline and then keep coming down from it. With the stress being unrelenting, she'd be exhausted in no time, just as you would be, you internet bad ass.

WORDS MEAN THINGS! Also, before you come to bitch about a plot hole, rewatch the show/movie.

Apparantly a human can stay awake for 11 days according to this experiment. It certaintly wouldn't be easy though.

I read an article about modafinal (it's shown in the pharmacy scene), which is approved for treating narcolepsy.

Supposedly in regular people it can be used to stay awake for days without the psychosis of amphetamines. A week might be pushing it.

I have lifelong severe sleep delayed insomnia, as well as dysautonomia from ehlers danlos syndrome, and I just stayed awake for 4 days and didn't even feel it. And when I did fall asleep, it was only for a couple hours.

Some of us are wired in ways that allow for such things. A horrible horrible thing to have, trust me. Just that hypersensitivity on a regular day is a nightmare. But the reason that you guys can sleep so easily is the same reason that people like me can not. It's not like it's a choice; we can only act our bodies are programmed to act.
