I simply hated this version. I just couldn't get over John Travolta as Edna. In my opinion it was just horrible.

I have just watched this and John Travolta ruined it for me. Way over the top, embarrassing, just dreadful. I cringed through all his scenes!

I think it's hilarious and can't stop laughing every time I hear Edna talk or sing. LOL! I love it!

There was enough from the rest of the movie to salvage it for me. I loved every other performance. Mr. Travolta was definitely the weak link in this.

I love John Travolta. But I would have preferred seeing Harvey Fierstein in this movie, playing Edna!

Seeing Harvey Fierstein as Edna in Hairspray Live shows to me it could have worked like that.

I understand why they went with a more insecure, meek Edna with John Travolta's version though.
