Which movies are good to show to a debate class?

I am teaching English to students in Beijing and want to show them a film about debate so they can get a feel for the actual process. I can't decide if "Rocket Science" or "The Great Debators" would be appropriate (there are some issues which I am not sure is acceptable among Chinese students). Any other movie suggestions about debate?

Thanks!

"Actual process"...of what? Arguing?

I cringe whenever I see something like this; wherein "debate" is a euphemism for toothless academic political posturing in which logic generally makes only happenstance appearances.

I would skip this movie (feel-good sermonizing tripe), and go straight to ABC 20/20's "In the Classroom with John Stossel" series.

anyway, as a HELPFUL response....

If I were you, I'd show The Great Debaters because it really does give you a feel of debate organizing process. Sure the film has some touchy issues, but nothing too graphic for students learning about debate to handle.

Thanks for the responses. There are a variety of options I would choose but my resources are limited. I ended up showing this movie but the static on the speakers made it almost impossible to enjoy the movie! Go figure!

Show them To Kill a Mockingbird. Atticus Finch's courtroom speech is certainly a fine and moving example of debater's logic and it's delivered so slowly and clearly by Peck that Chinese students would have an easier time following it.

I'd go with 12 Angry Men.

Do The Right Thing always seems to get people going.
