You have some really scewed views about what people in general are like in their 30's and 40's. As you start to get a little older you'll laugh at your former beliefs.

A woman not wanting a man who still lives with his parents has absolutely nothing to do with superficiality. It has to do with wanting a man who can take care of himself. If a grown man is still having all of his meals cooked by mom, still being cleaned up after by mom and still having his clothes washed by mom, what's going to happen when he finally does decide to move out and get married? He doesn't have any skills taking care of himself. This means that the new wife is going to take over the mom role and have to do everything for the "man". No thank you.

Sure, there are circumstances where someone has to move back in with their parents temporarily because of circumstances beyond their control. However, this movie is about men who *never* moved out of their parents house, never took care of themselves and have no plans to do so.

Based on some of the things you said, I think you missed something rather important in the movie. The guy who was still living with his parents was 35.
