Kathy Bates can't act for *beep*
Someone leaning back in the chair like a Bond-villain is not a believable mother! 4 out of 10!

shareYou're crazy! She did what the role required her to do, she have a great performance as a kind, caring and doting mother. contrast that with her wicked role on this years American Horror Story and it proves how diverse and strong her acting talent is.
shareTell that to her Oscar.
I am Luxurious
Peh, like THIS movie got her an Oscar? She SUCKED here!
shareNo, Misery. Are you sure it wasn't her character you didn't like? The Director probably directed her that way and she did the best she could.

I haven't seen "Misery", but since even the worst of Stephen King-movies ("Needful Things") can bring great performances, I can imagine she's better there.
I think the main reason her acting was so bad here is because of the poor script, dialogue and directing. Just look at Stephen Rea for example. He flat-out SUCKED ASS in "FearDotCom", but in "V For Vendetta", his acting was really impressive. See what I mean? The script does more damage than you may think.
I give the film 5/10, but am not blaming Oscar - winning Kathy Bates (in very much a supporting role) for that score. IMO, the script was pretty ordinary, predictable and never really got out of second gear.🐭
