It was called "Le diner des connards" and in my opinion it was funnier and with a better script. Did you know this movie was a remake?
Well, not everything was worse in the US version. The mice hobby was indeed very cute and

the reaction of the idi*t who finds out about the real nature of that dinner is of a real idiot, he didn't have any hurt pride for being lied.

shareThere are many remakes of foreign movies that I think were originally better like 'Starbuck' (French comedy) before 'Delivery Man', or 'Oldboy' Korean action) before 'Oldboy', or 'Infernal Affairs' (Hong Kong drama) before 'The Departed' (won't say that was bad, but was only an entertainer, the original was a better story), or long ago 'The Wicker Man' and 'Straw Dogs' (U.K. mystery) before 'The Wicker Man' and 'Straw Dogs'.
I was lucky enough to see those originals before Hollywood tried to make money off of the originals, so it's not a bad idea to often check to find out where the story originally came from before you watch it.
