Jimmy Carr

I dont know why but i really cant imagine Jimmy Carr being a good actor. He always seems a bit wooden when he's presenting TV shows. Can anyone one who has seen it tell me if hes any good.

He is meant to be wooden, his humour wouldn't work doing some Lee Evans thing. Plus this is a mockumentary so it doesn't require the same kind of acting that you might expect in... a different movie.

He's awful on TV but the new BBC radio drama "Flight Of The Conchords" is brilliant. Guess it all depends on the writers. His stand-up is pretty good as well.

I think he's the most unfunny man in the universe - his tv stuff is truly dreadful BUT he is excellent in this, and the film is the funniest thing I've ever seen in my life, so don't let his presence put you off!

reply

I don't like his stand-up or presenting at all, and in Confetti he's just kind of *there* without adding anything to the film, but at least he's not as annoying when he's playing Antoni.

reply

He's ok in this but as Ermy1 says he doesnt bring anything to the film. His character doesn't seem to have anything to do.

reply

He's really not in it enough for me to comment, which is something which was really disappointing. I'm someone who actually finds Jimmy Carr a very effective comedian but he was really underused in this film.

reply

I think he brings a lovely sort of contempt to the role. The line "I told her to change it, I didn't say but I assumed it would be for the better" just cracked me up.

Plus he shags a Maid of Honor in the lift and then lies about it!

He was actually quiet likeable but he was not really stretched.
