Why they never kiss?

I never thought I’d be watching Barbie movies, but I have a 2 year old daughter who likes them.
Anyway, I´m curious about why there aren’t any kisses in Barbie movies, in all the ones I’ve seen with a romantic storyline, Barbie only hugs the guy. What’s that about? Even in really old Disney movies the prince kisses the princess..

I'm pretty sure Barbie kisses the prince in Barbie and The Nutcracker.

most barbie movies tend to downplay the romance, and concentrate more on strong female friendships. That's one of the reasons i like them - they make a change from disney, where the romance always predominates and female friendships are very seldom a feature.
