I watch the series in Holland too. They were going for a walk, and then Lou just collapsed. She just fell on the ground and stopped breathing. She had some kind of heart problem.
It was such a sad episode!!

Thank you for explaining it...I got to it late last night as well. I still cried at her funeral...what a sad thing to happen!!! I can't imagine such pain. And too bad little Alex Cook won't be on the show any longer, she was a naturally wonderful actress!! Nog een keer, bedankt voor de uitleg!

reply

No problem. ;)
It was sad indeed. I cried almost during the whole episode!
OMG, especially the scene where Frankie is screaming and holding Lou. So sad.

You literally FEEL Charlie and Frankie's pain and grief. The writing and acting was brilliant, it just felt very real. The scene when Frankie is wailing and holding Lou was so heartbreaking and Charlie had me crying the whole next episode, as we watched him struggle to handle his grief.

Claudia Karvan is a brilliant actress, and Asher Keddie(Julia), WOW, she just blows me away with how talented she is.

She steals the show as Julia.

She is still in it...Frankie sees her all the time (I haven't seen all the eps of the second season so I don't know if she's in it the whole time).

we just watched lou's death and funeral yesterday in the uk and i was seriously crying!!
I never cry at anything on tele but it was so realistic and brilliantly acted out and just so unexpected! I thought when they got her into the ambulance they'd get her breathing again as they said her heart had started,it was so unexpected when we saw them at the hospital and Frankie was holding her and screaming!!
I cant imagine the pain and grief of ever losing one of my sons!!!!!

Yeah..I was in tears, I got some strange looks from my friend who was with me at the time

This was the most incredible episode of a TV show I have ever seen.
It was so painfully sad. Brilliantly written and acted. Raw and real.

I watched season 1 after season 2 and the episode where Lou died and her funeral was the worst thing I had ever seen on TV I was sobbing so hard. The the very next day my best freind had a car accident and her 3 yo daughter died. I just couldn't beleive that we were all doing to live it just as they did on TV. It was truly so realistic on the tv to real life and they way that they continue on with there lives and the emotions that they experience is quite similar to how we are all experiencing life without Belle. My friend has not seen love me way yet.

I cannot wait for season 3 to start.

reply

Thats so sad about your friends daughter. This show is the most realistic show i have ever seen about potraying death and grief.

reply

Just started watching this series and everyone is right this episode blows you away. Who knows how you'd react if this happened to you but I agree the acted was fantastic b

It was a very grieving episode, and the brilliant acting By Alex Cook in the previous episode (My Family Up a Tree) and her happy and accepting attitude towards her dysfunctional family made the impact so much more sadder & realistic.
Not sure whether having her reappear in dreams is better or worse as it just constantly reminds the viewer about her being missed. So I guess it is for the better.
