American Version Cast....

I ended up in posession of a preview disc with the first episode of the series in English before it was actually released. Has anyone else seen any of the episodes?

If so, what do you think of the voices? I was horrified—They're not all that great. Not to mention the series hardly follows the manga. HnG is easily my favorite manga, and while watching the first episode, I was devistated at the job done.

Amazing manga, bad anime adaption.

Whaddyou guys think?

I saw the 1st volume and got the first episode through Shonen Jump. I hated Akira's and Sai's and Hikaru's voice, Kaga's voice was alright for him, Toya Meijin's was alright, the kid from the Shogi club's (forgot his name)voice didn't fit him AT ALL, and that's it.

I started to watch episode 1 online, but exited out of it after about five minutes. Hikaru's voice pretty much killed the whole thing for me right then; I didn't even want to stick around to hear Sai's dub (and he's my favorite character). :\ Oh, well. A bad dub really isn't anything new these days. I gave up on the dubbing scene when the Shaman King anime was released in America.

yeah.. When I first heard Hikaru's voice in the english dub, I was wondering who else was with them, before I realized it WAS Hikaru... As for Sai, well... He just plain sucks. Too much emphasis (you can HEEEAARR me?!) ruins it. I'll stick with subs thank you very much..

You don't feel the anime follows the manga very well? I know my mind might be a bit fuzzy since it was at least a year ago that I read the Hikaru no Go manga before I watched the anime, but it's a very true version from what I can remember and tell. Just how dead-on a copy did you want it? Sometimes if an anime is too much of a carbon-copy of the manga, it defeats the purpose of it, I feel.

omg!!! Sai's voice is tarible, has any of the cast directer's seen an episode of hikaru no go in Japaness!!

p.s thank you reach4rod-2 I've been looking for the english dub on youtube but know I wish i didn't:(

I've seen the first couple eps, on youtube as well, and I believe that the dub was less than what I expected. I usually don't mind the dub, b/c I just try to not compare the dub to the original, however, for some reason, I didn't really like any of the VA's for HikaGo.

I saw an episode of the English dub on Toonami Jetstream, & indeed the voice acting is horrifically bad.
But in it's original Japanesse, the voice actors are amazing. I am very impressed with the Japanesse voice actor's work, although I'm very dissapointed with the awful voice acting in the English dub.
