Promising to help the ghosts

Do you ever notice how they tell the "ghosts" that they will help them, then they get what they want (a noise or something moves), and they pack up and move on? They don't actually help the ghosts at all. They lie to them. And what exactly do they think they're promising anyway? How would they help them? I find it really annoying. Hopefully there are no ghosts and they're sitting there wasting time promising to help the water pipes or heating system.

Absolutely, that's why i prefer "The Dead Files" show, it's way better because they tell the clients how to make the spirits move on.

agree!

I too am REALLY sick & tired of how these people "promise" things for the ghosts, IF they do something then completely ignore what they JUST "promised" & continue on!! It's the same on Ghost Adventures!! "If you want me (us) to leave, just bang on something, move something, tap",etc etc. Then they get WHAT they asked for & STILL stay!! & toys for the kids, "keep them if,," & NEXT TIME they try for kids-SAME DAMN TOYS!! Rotten, just rotten!!!

reply

Totally! I'm tired of people taking advantage of ghosts. We need a society or summin to prevent this kinda stuff. Like PETS (people for the ethical treatment of spirits)!!!

reply

Well in fairness, I'm not sure what they could do to "help" them...they can't communicate reliably, for one, so how would they know what the ghost needs/wants?

So Spirits do NOT help each other? I would think if any spirits needed help, that would be the best place to get it. Not from someone who is not even on the same dimensional plain as they are.

Watching the Mackinac Island episode and here they go again. Amy is in the theater where there is supposedly a little girl and she promises to give her candy if she performs for her, but there is no candy. Also, this is where "Harvey," the kid who's girlfriend rejected his proposal and he killed himself, supposedly haunts. Jason starts calling him a coward for killing himself. Who is Jason to judge a person who commits suicide? Who knows how low a person has to be to do that. And finally, Amy and Adam were in Harvey's old dorm room and Adam tells Harvey that his girlfriend who rejected him came back and is in the room with him, implying that Amy is the girlfriend. WTF??? Do they think that because they're dead, they're stupid?

Those cases aren't really incidents in which the ghosts were promised help, but rather attempts at eliciting a reaction; I'm not a big fan of eliciting by provocation, as the last thing I'd want to do is infuse the situation with more negative energy, even if they do sometimes get evidence.
