Me too-the last episode I saw is with Carter finding out Mercy was responsible for his mother death.

What happened, anyone?

Mercy and Shirley are Carter's mum and dad.....

the key opended a safe which was hidden in a crypt in Ambrose Chapel (where Mercy and Shirley had sex I think), Shirley and Carter opened it and there was a hot water bottle with a childs hotwater bottle cover on it. The bottle had belonged to Mercy's sister I think.

Mercy, Shirley, Carter and Lola ended up at the top of the tower fighting over a piece of paper which was in the hot water bottle. It meant something like whoever owned the paper owned the golden mile (beaches and other stuf on the prom and would make a fortune i think). Mercey had a gun and the paper blew away and she made Carter and Shirley climb up after it. They were both wearing gorilla suites (for the party held at the top off the tower) and whilst climbing after the paper one of them fell. Then it went to everyone stood at the bottom of the tower next to a body - it was Shirley. Nobody got the paper.

The End

Not quite right. Mercy only wanted Carter to go after the deeds, Shirley went after him to get him to come back. Mercy shot Shirley, causing him to fall (obviously meant to aim for Carter, seemed a bit silly anyhow). The Creature/Shadowman was the last vicar of the Chapel, hideously injured from the fire, also shot by Mercy. Carter and Lola stood on the beach at the end, Carter grasping the paper, and was asked by Lola what he was going to do. At this point the show ended.

Oh, and Bridewell was the name of the hot water bottle.

I could be anybody!
No you couldn't. This is Information Retrieval.

Locking Mercy in the room is way better (and more disturbing) than her just being taken away by the police which happens in every other drama (apart from when the villain shoots themselves).

After Carter locks Mercy up in one of Ambrose Chapfel's rooms, he tells him that he'll be back. So obviously he has some unfinished business with her. They left it quite open for the viewer to decide what happens after that.

Anyone who missed either the last episode or indeed any of this magnificently black comedy, should save all their pocket money and get the DVD.

I too was puzzled why Carter locked Mercy in Ambrose Chafel's "Animal magic" premises, perhaps she was going to get stuffed ?

I recently watched the whole series again and it's amazing how many little nuances you pick up on a second or third watch. The mayor's glass testicles rattling as he walks or Leo Finch selling the virtues of the Seaview suite with positive quips like "that bath's got jets".

Funland was magical and brilliant. Long live Malcolm Carpet.
